The film is directed by Marc Munden (Utopia, The Mark of Cain) and stars Colin Firth, Julie Walters, Dixie Egerickx, Edan Hayhurst, Amir Wilson and Isis Davis. The movie is based on the children’s novel of the same title by Frances Hodgson Burnett and follows a 10-year-old orphan who is sent from India to live with her reclusive uncle and his strict housekeeper in an eerie mansion, where finds a hidden garden and bonds with local boy, sick cousin and a stray dog over a shared fantasy world.

Enis Rotthoff (Look Who’s Back, Wetlands, Four Against the Bank, Godless Youth) has composed the original music for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Guns Akimbo. The film is written and directed by Jason Lei Howden (Deathgasm) and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Samara Weaving, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ned Dennehy and Rhys Darby. The movie centers on a nerdy video game developer as he becomes the next contestant in an illegal live-streamed death match. Joe Neurauter & Felipe Marino (The Wackness, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane) and Tom Hern (The Dark Horse) are producing the German/New Zealand co-production.
Craig Armstrong Scoring Gregor Jordan’s ‘Dirt Music’
Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, The Incredible Hulk, Romeo + Juliet, Love Actually) has recently scored the upcoming British/Australian drama Dirt Music. The film is directed by Gregor Jordan (Buffalo Soldiers, Ned Kelly, The Informers) and stars Kelly Macdonald, Garrett Hedlund, David Wenham, Julia Sarah Stone and Aaron Pedersen. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Tim Winton is set against the landscape of Western Australia and tells an impassioned tale of love and grief. Jack Thorne (Wonder, The Aeronauts) wrote the screenplay.
BadBadNotGood’s Alex Sowinski & Leland Whitty Scoring Albert Shin’s ‘Clifton Hill’
Alex Sowinski & Leland Whitty of the Canadian instrumental music group BadBadNotGood are making their feature film scoring debut on the upcoming psychological thriller Clifton Hill. The film is directed by Albert Shin and stars Tuppence Middleton, Hannah Gross, David Cronenberg, Eric Johnson, Marie-Josée Croze, Andy McQueen and Noah Reid. The movie follows a troubled young woman returning to her hometown of Niagara Falls, where the memory of a long-ago kidnapping quickly ensnares her. Shin also co-wrote the screenplay with James Schultz. Kevin Krikst and Fraser Ash (Closet Monster) are producing the project.
Michael Giacchino to Score David Silverman’s ‘Extinct’
Michael Giacchino has been hired to score the upcoming animated adventure comedy Extinct. He will be co-scoring the project with his son, Mick Giacchino. The film is directed by David Silverman (The Simpsons Movie, Monsters, Inc.) and features the voices of Adam Devine, Rachel Bloom, Zazie Beetz, Ken Jeong, Jim Jefferies, Catherine O’Hara, Reggie Watts and Alex Borstein. The movie follows two donut-shaped animals called flummels as they accidentally time-travel from 1835 to modern-day Shanghai where they discover traffic, trans fats, and the fact that flummels have become extinct.
Philip Ekstrom Scoring Drake Doremus’ ‘Endings, Beginnings’
Philip Ekstrom has composed the original score for the upcoming drama Endings, Beginnings. The film is directed by Drake Doremus (Like Crazy, Breathe In, Equals) and stars Shailene Woodley, Sebastian Stan and Jamie Dornan. The movie revolves around an idealistic woman as she attempts to get her life on track financially and romantically, but gets caught in a love triangle with a free-spirited bad boy and his more stable, scholarly best friend. Doremus also co-wrote the screenplay with Jardine Libaire and is producing the project with Francis Chung (Take Point) and Robert George (Zoe, Newness).
John Debney to Score Brenda Chapman’s ‘Come Away’
John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf, The Jungle Book) is currently scoring the upcoming fantasy drama Come Away. The film marks the live-action of debut of director Brenda Chapman (Brave, The Prince of Egypt) and stars Angelina Jolie, David Oyelowo, Keira Chansa, Jordan Nash, Reece Yates, Michael Caine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Gyasi. The movie follows the brother and sister who became the protagonists of Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan as they seek to help their parents overcome the death of their eldest son and are then forced to choose between home and imagination.
Matthew Herbert Scoring Feras Fayyad’s National Geographic Documentary ‘The Cave’
Matthew Herbert (Disobedience, A Fantastic Woman, Gloria Bell, Life in a Day) has composed the original music for the upcoming documentary The Cave. The film is directed by Feras Fayyad (One Day in Aleppo) and follows the documentarian as he returns to his native, wartorn Syria to follow a dedicated team of female doctors who tirelessly treat casualties in an underground hospital while battling systemic sexism. Kirstine Barfod and Sigrid Jonsson Dyekjær (Aquarela) are producing the project.

Premiering tomorrow, September 2, is the documentary Untouchable directed by Ursula Macfarlane. The movie chronicles the recent fall of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and his years of alleged abuse. The film’s original music is composed by Anne Nikitin (American Animals, Mrs. Wilson, This Beautiful Fantastic, Calibre, The Imposter). The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Hulu.
Also premiering tomorrow is Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe: The Movie co-written and directed by Rebecca Sugar and starring Zach Callison, Estelle, Michaela Dietz and Deedee Magno Hall. Aivi Tran & Steven Velema (aka Aivi & Surasshu) have composed the film’s original score. WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie written by Rebecca Sugar and performed by Chance The Rapper, Estelle, Patti LuPone, Uzo Aduba, Gallant, Aimee Mann, among others. The film is written and directed by Kitty Green (Casting JonBenet) and stars Julia Garner, Matthew Macfadyen, Kristine Froseth, Makenzie Leigh, Noah Robbins, Jon Orsini, Dagmara Domińczyk, Juliana Canfield and Purva Bedi. The movie a centers on a recent college grad and hopeful producer who landed a dream job as a junior assistant to a powerful entertainment mogul in a New York City production office and soon stars to encounter various moments of abuse and degradations.
