The film marks the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Brian Duffield (Jane Got a Gun, Insurgent, The Babysitter) and stars Katherine Langford, Charlie Plummer, Hayley Law, Piper Perabo, Rob Huebel, Yvonne Orji, Chris Shields, Laine MacNeil, Clive Holloway and Bzhaun Rhoden. The movie is based on the YA novel of the same name by Aaron Starmer and centers on a teenager whose life is forever changed when students in her senior class explode for no discernible reason.

Showtime’s ‘The L Word: Generation Q’ to Feature Original Score by Heather McIntosh & Allyson Newman
Heather McIntosh (Compliance, Z for Zachariah, 6 Balloons) and Allyson Newman (Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound, Kusama: Infinity) are composing the original score for the new Showtime original series The L Word: Generation Q. The show is created by Ilene Chaiken (who served as the creator/showrunner of the original The L Word series) & new showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan and stars Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey who are reprising their roles from the original series. They are joined by new cast members Arienne Mandi, Leo Sheng, Jacqueline Toboni, Rosanny Zayas and Sepideh Moafi.

Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Boy Erased, The Gift, Enemy, Ozark, Fear the Walking Dead) are scoring the upcoming horror thriller The Rental. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Dave Franco and stars Dan Stevens, Alison Brie, Shelia Vand and Jeremy Allen White. The movie follows two couples who embark on a weekend getaway to a seemingly perfect house they’ve booked online. Franco also co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Swanberg (Easy, Digging for Fire).

Dustin O’Halloran and Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) have been hired to score the upcoming British drama Ammonite. The film is written and directed by Francis Lee and stars Kate Winslet, Saoirse Ronan, James McArdle, Alec Secareanu and Fiona Shaw. The movie is set in 1840s England and centers on an infamous fossil hunter and a young woman who are sent to convalesce by the sea and develop an intense relationship, altering both of their lives forever.

The film is directed by Claudia Llosa (The Milk Of Sorrow, Aloft) and stars María Valverde and Dolores Fonzi. The drama is based on the novel of the same title by Samanta Schweblin and tells a story of broken souls, toxins, looming environmental and spiritual catastrophes, and the ties that bind a parent to a child.
John Swihart to Score Kerem Sanga’s ‘The Violent Heart’
John Swihart (Napoleon Dynamite, How I Met Your Mother, Youth in Revolt, Switched at Birth) has been tapped to score the upcoming coming-of-age drama The Violent Heart. The film is written and directed by Kerem Sanga and stars Grace Van Patten, Jovan Adepo, Mary J. Blige and Lukas Haas. The movie is set in Nashville, Tennesse and follows a college-bound senior on the cusp of graduation, and her budding relationship with a local mechanic who dreams of becoming a Marine.
Roque Banos Scoring Jacob Chase’s ‘Larry’
Roque Banos (Don’t Breathe, In the Heart of the Sea, Evil Dead, The Machinist, Sexy Beast) has composed the original music for the upcoming horror thriller Larry. The film is written and directed by Jacob Chase (The Four-Faced Liar) and stars Gillian Jacobs, Azhy Robertson and John Gallagher Jr.. The movie is based on Chase’s own short of the same title and follows a troubled young boy and his family who become the target of a monster that materialized through electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets.
David Buckley to Score Ric Roman Waugh’s ‘Greenland’
Composer David Buckley (The Good Wife, The Forbidden Kingdom, Papillon, The Gifted) is reteaming with director Ric Roman Waugh on the upcoming thriller Greenland. The film starring Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Scott Glenn, Andrew Bachelor and David Denman centers on one family’s fight for survival in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster. Chris Sparling (Buried, ATM) wrote the screenplay with revisions by Mitchell LaFortune and Waugh.

Danny Elfman has revealed in a recent interview with JOE.ie that he is currently scoring the upcoming thriller The Woman in the Window. The film is directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, Hanna) and stars Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, Wyatt Russell, Anthony Mackie and Brian Tyree Henry. The movie is based on A.J. Finn’s bestseller of the same name and centers on an agoraphobic child psychologist who witnesses a crime while spying on her neighbors, leaving her to determine whether to alert the police.

The film is directed by Autumn de Wilde and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart, Josh O’Connor, Callum Turner, Rupert Graves, Gemma Whelan, Amber Anderson, Tanya Reynolds and Connor Swindells. The comedy tells the story of Emma Woodhouse as she must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along. Eleanor Catton wrote the screenplay.
