Milan Records has released a new English language version of the Oscar-shortlisted original song Rain Song (written by Emile Mosseri) from Lee Isaac Chung’s Academy Award-nominated drama Minari. Visit Amazon or any other major digital music store to stream download/the track, which is now available as a digital single, which also features the original Korean version (with lyrics by Stefanie Hong and vocals by Yeri Han). Weekly Film Music Roundup (February 12, 2021)
Opening in theaters nationwide today and also premiering on HBO Max is the drama Judas and the Black Messiah directed by Shaka King and starring Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders, Jesse Plemons and Martin Sheen. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, Miracle, A River Runs Through It) & Craig Harris. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music today (click here the full details). Also out now is a separate album featuring an original song by H.E.R. as featured in the movie, as well as other songs inspired by the film (click here for more information).
Also opening wide is the drama Land directed by Robin Wright and starring Wright herself, Demián Bichir and Kim Dickens. Ben Sollee (Maidentrip) and the string trio Time for Three. have composed the film’s original music. ‘Minari’ Soundtrack Album Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama Minari. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emile Mosseri (The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Homecoming, Kajillionaire, Random Acts of Flyness). The soundtrack will be released on February 12 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track is already available to stream/download here and is also embedded below. A vinyl edition will be released a couple of weeks later and is available to pre-order here. Minari is written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung and stars Steven Yeun, Yeri Han, Yuh-Jung Youn, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho and Will Patton. The movie follows a Korean-American family that moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream and whose family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother.
Emile Mosseri Scoring Lee Isaac Chung’s ‘Minari’
Emile Mosseri has recently recorded his score for the upcoming indie drama Minari. The film is written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung and stars Steven Yeun, Han Yeri, Youn Yuh Jung, Will Patton, Alan Kim and Noel Kate Cho. The movie follows a 7-year-old Korean-American boy who gets his life turned upside down when his father decides to move their family to rural Arkansas and start a farm in the mid-1980s.
