Charlie Rosen has composed the original score for the upcoming comedy Here Today. The film is directed by Billy Crystal who also stars in the movie, alongside Tiffany Haddish, Anna Deavere Smith, Penn Badgley, Louisa Krause, Nyambi Nyambi and Laura Benanti. The movie is inspired by the short story The Prize by Alan Zweibel (The Story of Us, North) and centers on the unlikely friendship between a veteran comedy writer and a New York street singer. Crystal who previously directed the theatrical features Mr. Saturday Night & Forget Paris, as well as HBO’s 61* also co-wrote the screenplay with Zweibel.

Benjamin Wallfisch (The Invisible Woman, Hidden Figures, Blade Runner 2049, Annabelle Creation) is set to reunite with director Andy Muschietti on the upcoming superhero movie The Flash. The film stars Ezra Miller in the title role, alongside Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Sasha Calle, Maribel Verdú and Ron Livingston. Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Bumblebee) wrote the screenplay. Michael Disco and Barbara Muschietti (Locke & Key) are producing the DC Films production.
Joseph Trapanese to Score Joseph Kosinski’s ‘Escape from Spiderhead’
Composer Joseph Trapanese (Straight Outta Compton, The Greatest Showman, Lady and the Tramp, The Raid: Redemption, Arctic) is reteaming with director Joseph Kosinski on the upcoming Netflix original film Escape from Spiderhead. The sci-fi movie starring Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett is set in the near future and revolves around two convicts who confront their pasts in a facility run by a visionary who gives them emotion-altering drugs. Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) wrote the screenplay based on a short story by George Saunders.
Mark Orton Scoring Ty Roberts’ ’12 Mighty Orphans’
Mark Orton (Nebraska, The Good Girl, My Old Lady, The Last Shift, People, Places, Things) has composed the original music for the upcoming sports drama 12 Mighty Orphans. The film is directed by Ty Roberts (The Iron Orchard) and stars Luke Wilson, Martin Sheen, Vinessa Shaw, Jake Austin Walker, Wayne Knight, Treat Williams, Scott Haze, Ron White, and Robert Duvall. The movie is based on Jim Dent’s bestselling book of the same title and tells the true story of the Mighty Mites, the football team of a Fort Worth orphanage who, during the Great Depression, went from playing without shoes to playing for the Texas state championships.
Joseph Bishara Scoring James Wan’s ‘Malignant’
Composer Joseph Bishara is reuniting with director James Wan on the upcoming horror thriller Malignant. The film stars Annabelle Wallis, Maddie Hasson, George Young, Michole Briana White, Jake Abel, Jacqueline McKenzie and Ingrid Bisu. No plot details have been announced yet. Akela Cooper (Hell Fest) and JT Petty (The Burrowers) wrote the screenplay based on a story by James Wan & Ingrid Bisu. Wan (Aquaman, Furious 7) is also producing the Atomic Monster, Starlight Media, New Line Cinema production with Michael Clear (Swamp Thing, MacGyver).
Netflix Documentary ‘Why Did You Kill Me?’ to Feature Music by Matt Morton
Matt Morton (Apollo 11, Dinosaur 13) has recently scored the new Netflix original documentary Why Did You Kill Me?. The film is directed by Fredrick Munk and tells the story of a mother who uses the social networking site MySpace to investigate the people she believes are responsible for her daughter’s death, resulting in reverberations for multiple families. Munk is also producing the project with Lucy Walker (Waste Land, The Crash Reel) and Julian Cautherley (Clemency, Never Here).
Nitin Sawhney Scoring Claire McCarthy’s ‘The Colour Room’
Nitin Sawhney (The Namesake, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, Breathe, Traitors, Lila Says) is currently recording his score for the upcoming Sky original movie The Colour Room. The film is directed by Claire McCarthy (Ophelia, The Waiting City) and stars Phoebe Dynevor, Matthew Goode, David Morrissey, Darci Shaw, Kerry Fox and Luke Norris. The drama follows the journey of pioneering ceramic artist Clarice Cliff, a determined, working class woman as she breaks the glass ceiling and revolutionizes the workplace in the 20th century.
Dominic Lewis Scoring Tanya Wexler’s ‘Jolt’
Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, Peter Rabbit, Money Monster, Free Birds, DuckTales) has composed the original music for the upcoming action comedy Jolt. The film is directed by Tanya Wexler (Hysteria, Buffaloed) and stars Kate Beckinsale, Bobby Cannavale, Jai Courtney, Laverne Cox and Stanley Tucci. The movie follows a bouncer with an anger-management problem that she controls with the help of an electrode-lined vest who goes on a revenge-fueled rampage to find the killer of the first guy she’s ever fallen for while the cops pursue her as their chief suspect. Scott Wascha wrote the screenplay.
John Williams to Score James Mangold’s ‘Indiana Jones 5’
Lucasfilm has confirmed today that John Williams is set to return as the composer of the currently untitled fifth installment in the Indiana Jones film series. The movie will be directed by James Mangold (Logan, Ford v. Ferrari, 3:10 to Yuma) and stars Harrison Ford in the title role, alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge. No other cast members or plot details have been announced yet. The composer was previously attached to score the fifth installment when Steven Spielberg was set to direct the film in 2016 . Spielberg is producing the new movie with Kathleen Kennedy (The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Frank Marshall (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Sixth Sense) and Simon Emanuel (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Witcher).
Matthieu Chedid to Score Guillaume Canet’s ‘Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom’
French singer/songwriter Matthieu Chedid is attached to compose the score for the upcoming live-action family comedy Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom. The film will be directed by Guillaume Canet (Little White Lies, Nous finirons ensemble) who also stars as Asterix, alongside Gilles Lellouche as Obelix, Vincent Cassel as Cesar, Marion Cotillard as Cleopatra and Jonathan Cohen as Finalthesis. Other cast members include Ramzy Bedia, Linh-Dan Pham, Julie Chen, Pierre Richard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Philippe Mechelen (I Do: How to Get Married and Stay Single) and Julien Hervé wrote the screenplay based on the comic books created by René Goscinny & Albert Uderzo (Looking for Teddy).
