Harry Escott (Shame, Roadkill, Welcome to the Punch, Hard Candy, The English Game, The Wedding Guest, The Face of an Angel) is the composer of the new ITV drama Joan. The show is created by Anna Symon (The Essex Serpent, Deep Water) and stars Sophie Turner, Frank Dillane, Kirsty J. Curtis, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr and Laura Aikman. The 6-part series is set in 1980s London and tells the story of notorious jewel thief Joan Harrington’s meteoric rise from petty offender to highly talented diamond thief and criminal mastermind.

‘Devara: Part 1’ Soundtrack EP Released
Super Cassettes Industries has released a soundtrack EP for the Indian action epic Devara: Part 1. The 4-track EP features the songs from the film written by Anirudh Ravichander (Petta, Kaththi), with lyrics by Ramajogayya Sastry, and is now available to stream on most other major digital music services in five different versions: Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Also listen to all four tracks below. Devara: Part 1 is written and directed by Koratala Siva and stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr, Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor and Shruti Marathe. The movie is set against coastal lands and follows the titular protagonist as the rescuer to the deprived and fear to evildoers.
Melissa Barrera’s Original Song ‘My Stranger’ from ‘Your Monster’ Released
The first track from the soundtrack for the romantic horror comedy Your Monster has been released. Available to stream/download now on most major digital music services is the original song My Stranger written by The Lazours, produced by the film’s composer Timothy Williams and performed by lead actress Melissa Barrera. Weekly Film Music Roundup (September 27, 2024)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the animated feature The Wild Robot written and directed by Chris Sanders and starring Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames and Mark Hamill. The film’s original score is composed by Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, King Richard, Haunted Mansion, Secret Invasion, The Color Purple, Dear White People, Mrs. America). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as two original songs co-written and performed by Maren Morris today. Also opening nationwide is the sci-fi epic Megalopolis written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Kathryn Hunter, Dustin Hoffman and Laurence Fishburne. Osvaldo Golijov (Youth Without Youth, The Man Who Cried, Twixt, The Oath) has composed the film’s original score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, two original songs by Grace VanderWaal and several tracks by other artists today. Dave Metzger Scoring Barry Jenkins’ ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’
Dave Metzger (Wish, Brother Bear 2, Tarzan & Jane, Tarzan 2: The Legend Begins) is composing the original score for Disney’s The Lion King prequel Mufasa: The Lion King. The film is directed by Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) and stars Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Kagiso Lediga, Preston Nyman, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, John Kani, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, Blue Ivy Carter and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. As previously reported, Lin-Manuel Miranda is writing the movie’s songs produced by Mark Mancina and Miranda, with additional music and performances by Lebo M.
World Premiere Release of Jeff Beal’s ‘Cheap Shots’ Score Announced
Categorical Records has released the first-ever soundtrack album for the 1988 comedy Cheap Shots directed by Jerry Stoeffhaas & Jeff Ureles and starring Louis Zorich, David Patrick Kelly, Mary Louise Wilson, Michael Twain, Clarke Gordon, Judson Camp, John Galateo, Patience Moore and Brad Fullagar. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Pollock, Carnivale, Appaloosa, The Biggest Little Farm, Rome, Blackfish, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power) who made his feature scoring debut on the project. Deutsche Grammophon has released a new soundtrack album for the HBO original series My Brilliant Friend. The album features the original music from the show’s fourth season composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Ad Astra, Mary Queen of Scots, Hostiles, Waltz with Bashir, Taboo, Miss Sloane), as well as several tracks from the composer’s Recomposed By Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons album and a cue from his score for the 2008 film Henry May Long.
