Only one movie is opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in around 600 theaters is the horror thriller The Pyramid directed by Gregory Levasseur, produced by Alexandre Aja and starring Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley, Denis O’Hare, Christa Nicola and Amir K. The film’s original music is composed by Nima Fakhrara (The Signal, The Courier). No soundtrack album has been announced. The Pyramid follows a group of U.S. archaeologists who discover a lost pyramid unlike any other in the Egyptian desert. The thriller is being released by 20th Century Fox. Already playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday is the drama Wild directed by Jean-Marc Vallee and starring Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Thomas Sadoski, Gaby Hoffman, Kevin Rankin and Michiel Huisman. The film doesn’t feature an original score. Sony Legacy has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by such artists as Simon & Garfunkel, Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen, Portishead, The Shangri-Las, Billy Swan, Lucina Williams, Wings, Pat Metheny Group & more. Deborah Lurie to Score ABC’s ‘Astronaut Wives Club’

Deborah Lurie has been hired to score the upcoming ABC drama Astronaut Wives Club. The show is created by Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, Endless Love) and stars JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Odette Annable, Zoe Boyle, Azure Parsons and Desmond Harrington. The 10-episode limited series is based on the book by Lily Koppel and tells the true story of the women who stood beside some of the biggest heroes in American history during the height of the space race. Savage is executive producing the Fake Empire, Groundswell Productions and ABC Studios production with Josh Schwartz (The O.C., Len Goldstein (The Carrie Daries), Michael London (Sideways, The Illusionist, The Visitor) and Janice Williams. Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, The Other Woman) is directing the pilot episode.

Deborah Lurie Scoring ‘Murder of a Cat’

Deborah Lurie has recently recorded her score for the upcoming comedic thriller Murder of a Cat. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Gillian Greene and stars Fran Kranz, Nikki Reed, J.K. Simmons and Greg Kinnear. The movie follows a young man who discovers his dead cat was leading a double life with another owner. Christian Magalhaes & Robert Snow (New Girl) have written the Black List-honored screenplay. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz the Great and Powerful) is producing the project. Lurie’s previous film scoring credits include such titles as Dear John, An Unfinished Life, Footloose and Safe Haven.

‘Much Ado About Nothing’ Soundtrack Details

Bellwether Records will release the official soundtrack album for the new film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. The album features the film’s original score composed by Joss Whedon who has also written, directed and produced the movie. Film composer Deborah Lurie (Dear John, 9, An Unfinished Life) served as the score’s producer. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 6, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Much Ado About Nothing stars Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof as Beatrice and Benedick, the world’s least likely lovers headed for their inevitable tumble into love. Nathan Fillion, Clark Gregg, Fran Kranz, Reed Diamond, Tom Lenk and Sean Maher are co-starring. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions for domestic distribution.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this holiday weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the action thriller sequel A Good Day to Die Hard directed by John Moore and starring Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney. The film’s music is composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream) who previously scored the last film in the series, Live Free or Die Hard. Also opening wide is the romantic drama/thriller Safe Haven directed by Lasse Hallstrom and starring Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, David Lyons, Cobie Smulders and Noah Lomax. The film’s original score is composed by Deborah Lurie who previously worked with Hallstrom on the Nicholas Sparks adaptation Dear John and An Unfinished Life. Relativity Music Group will release a score album for Lasse Hallstrom’s romantic drama Safe Haven. The album features the film’s original score composed by Deborah Lurie who previously collaborated with the director on Dear John and An Unfinished Life. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 12, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. As previously reported, Republic Records will also release a soundtrack featuring the songs from the film. Safe Haven is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook) and stars Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, David Lyons, Cobie Smulders and Noah Lomax. Relativity Music Group and Republic Records have announced the details of the soundtrack for the romantic thriller Safe Haven. The soundtrack features the original tracks We Both Know written and performed by Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw and The Journey by FM Radio. Also included on the release are songs by Tristan Prettyman and Gareth Dunlop, as well as a track composed by the film’s composer Deborah Lurie (9, Dear John). The soundtrack will be released on February 5, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article in a couple of weeks. Safe Haven based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks is directed by Lasse Hallstrom and stars Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, David Lyons, Cobie Smulders and Noah Lomax. The movie about a young woman who struggles to find love again after she arrives in a small North Carolina town will be released nationwide on February 14, 2013 by Relativity Media.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

One of the most talked about and ambitious film of the season is the epic adventure drama Cloud Atlas directed by Tom Tykwer and Andy & Lana Wachowski and starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant. The film’s music is composed by Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the score earlier this week. Also opening wide is the horror sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D based on the video game, directed by Michael J. Bassett and starring Sean Bean, Deborah Kara Unger, Radha Mitchell, Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington, Carrie-Anne Moss and Malcolm McDowell. Jeff Danna and Akira Yamaoka who preciously scored the first installment in the series have written the music for the film. Deborah Lurie to Score Lasse Hallstrom’s ‘Safe Haven’

Deborah Lurie is reuniting with director Lasse Hallstrom on the upcoming romance Safe Haven. The film is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook) and stars Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, David Lyons, Cobie Smulders and Noah Lomax. The movie centers on a young woman who struggles to find love again after she arrives in a small town in North Carolina, where her reluctance to join the community raises questions about her past. Dana Stevens (City of Angels, For the Love of the Game) and Les Bohem (Dante’s Peak) have written the screenplay and Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) and Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen (Dear John) and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight series, I, Robot) are producing the project alongside Sparks. The film marks Lurie’s third film for the director following An Unfinished Life starring Robert Redford and the 2010 hit drama Dear John starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried, which was also based on a novel written by Sparks.

Deborah Lurie Scoring ‘Fun Size’

Deborah Lurie has taken over scoring duties on the teen comedy Fun Size. The film marks the directorial feature debut of Josh Schwartz (The O.C.) and stars Victoria Justice, Chelsea Handler, Riki Lindhome, Johnny Knoxville, Josh Pence, Thomas Mann and Jane Levy. The movie follows a teenage girl who loses her brother after being forced to take him out for trick-or-treating on Halloween. Schwartz is producing the Anonymous Content/Fake Empire production with Stephanie Savage, Bard Dorros and David Kanter. Lurie is replacing composer Lyle Workman who was previously attached to score the comedy. Fun Size will be released nationwide on October 26, 2012 by Paramount Pictures.
