Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the superhero movie The Marvels co-written and directed by Nia DaCosta and starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Lewis, Zawe Ashton, Seo-Jun Park, Mohan Kapur, Zenobia Shroff and Saagar Shaikh. The film’s original music is composed by Laura Karpman (Ms. Marvel, What If..?, American Fiction, Lovecraft Country, Underground, Set It Up). Hollywood Records & Marvel Music have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Wednesday. Also opening wide is the movie musical Journey to Bethlehem directed by Adam Anders and starring Fiona Palomo, Milo Manheim, Antonio Banderas, Lecrae, Joel Smallbone, MŌRIAH and Stephanie Gil. Adam Anders has also written the film’s original music with Nikki Anders and Peer Astrom. Capitol Christian Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie last week. Nate Wonder & Roman GianArthur Scoring Roger Ross Williams’ ‘Stamped from the Beginning’

Record producers and songwriters Nate Wonder & Roman GianArthur have composed the original score for the upcoming Netflix original documentary Stamped from the Beginning. The film directed by Roger Ross Williams (Life, Animated, The Apollo, Cassandro) is inspired by Ibram X. Kendi’s book of the same title and explores the history of anti-Black ideas in a way that helps us grapple with present-day racism. The movie uses vivid animations that illuminate figures and moments both well-known and obscure, both historical and contemporary.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (September 18, 2020)

The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this week is the political thriller Infidel written and directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh and starring Jim Caveziel, Claudia Karvan, Hal Ozsan, Stelio Savante and Aly Kassem. The album features the film’s original music composed by Natalie Holt (The Honourable Woman, Journey’s End, Knightfall, Press, Beecham House, Deadwater Fell). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which revolves around an American journalist/blogger who is kidnapped while attending a conference in the Middle East and is put on trial for trumped-up charges of espionage, is being released by Cloudburst Entertainment.

Already playing in around 400 theaters since this past Wednesday is the thriller The Secrets We Keep co-written and directed by Yuval Adler and starring Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman, Chris Messina and Amy Seimetz. John Paesano (The Maze Runner, Daredevil, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, The Star, My All American, When the Game Stands Tall) has composed the film’s original music. ‘Antebellum’ Soundtrack Album Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Antebellum. The album features the film’s original music composed by record producers/songwriters Nate Wonder & Roman GianArthur who made their film scoring debut on the project. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 18, 2020 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Antebellum is directed by Gerard Bush & Christopher Renz and stars Janelle Monáe, Marque Richardson II, Eric Lange, Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Tongayi Chirisa, Gabourey Sidibe, Rob Aramayo, Lily Cowles and Jena Malone. The movie follows a successful author who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality that forces her to confront the past, present and future – before it’s too late.
