Fall 2011 Television Music Roundup (Part 3): CBS

In our third part of our roundup of this fall’s television music, we are taking a look at the new and returning shows on CBS:

Among the network’s new shows is the drama Person of Interest created by Jonathan Nolan (brother of Christopher Nolan) and starring Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel, Taraji B. Henson and Kevin Chapman. The score for the show is composed by Ramin Djawadi (Iron Man, Game of Thrones). The show produced by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Greg Plageman and David Semel centers on a presumed dead former-CIA agent who teams up with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes by using their own brand of vigilante justice. Person of Interest has already received a full season order and the show airs every Thursday night on CBS.

Ramin Djawadi to Score ‘Safe House’

Ramin Djawadi has been tapped to score the upcoming thriller Safe House. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds, Denzel Washington, Vera Farmiga, Liam Cunningham, Brendan Gleeson, Robert Patrick and Sam Shepard. The film centers on a man at a CIA-run safe house who must help a criminal, who’s being kept there, avoid being killed by villains who want the witness dead. Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money) is directing the thriller produced by Scott Stuber (Role Models, The Kingdom) and written by David Guggenheim.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (August 19, 2011)

Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in almost 3000 theaters is the horror comedy Fright Night directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Christopher Mintz-Please, David Tennant and Toni Collette. The film’s music is composed by Ramin Djawadi. A soundtrack CD will be released on August 30, 2011 by Varese Sarabande. The album is already available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Check out our soundtrack announcement for more details.

Also opening wide is the action remake of Conan the Barbarian directed by Marcus Nispel and starring Jason Momoa, Ron Perlman, Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Stephen Lang. Warner Bros Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the film’s music by Tyler Bates. For more details and audio clips, visit our previous article. ‘Fright Night’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has revealed the soundtrack details for the horror comedy Fright Night. As previously reported, the album contains the original score by composer Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Iron Man). The release date for the soundtrack has been pushed back two weeks since our last update and is now set for August 30, 2011. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. Fright Night is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Christopher Mintz-Please, David Tennant and Toni Collette. The remake of the 1985 film about a teenager who discovers his new next-door neighbor is a vampire will be released in theaters on August 19.

Ramin Djawadi to Score ‘Person of Interest’

Ramin Djawadi has signed on to score the new CBS series Person of Interest. The show is created by Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonathan (co-writer of The Dark Knight and The Prestige) and centers on a presumed dead former-CIA agent who teams up with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes by using their own brand of vigilante justice. J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (Lost) are producing alongside Greg Plageman (Cold Case) and David Semel (Heroes, No Ordinary Family) who also directed the pilot. The drama’s cast includes Michael Emerson (Lost), Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ), Taraji B. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and Kevin Chapman (Brotherhood).

Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming horror comedy Fright Night. The album includes the score from the film written by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Clash of the Titans). The soundtrack will be released on August 16, 2011. More details about the album are expected in a couple of weeks. Fright Night is directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) and stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Christopher Mintz-Please, David Tennant and Toni Collette. The album includes the original score from the series by Ramin Djawadi, including the composer’s main title theme, which can be checked out below. The soundtrack release date has been pushed back to June 28, 2011 since our initial announcement. The album is now available to pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album below. Game of Thrones premiered in April and is currently finishing up its first season run on Sunday nights on HBO. The show created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and starring Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Mark Addy, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Michelle Fairley and Emilia Clarke already got picked up for a second season.

Varese Sarabande Records has announced a soundtrack album for HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones. The album includes Ramin Djawadi’s original score from the show. The soundtrack will be released on June 14, 2011. More details on the album will be published next month. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. It is expected that Djawadi’s main theme will be included on the soundtrack (check out a video of the main titles sequence below). Game of Thrones premiered on April 17 and already got picked up for a second season. The show created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and starring Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Mark Addy, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Michelle Fairley and Emilia Clarke is currently airing every Sunday night on HBO.

Expanded ‘First Knight’ Score released

Earlier this week, La-La Land Records has released an expanded soundtrack album of Jerry Goldsmith’s score for First Knight. The album comes in a 2 disc-set featuring the film’s score, the original 1995 album version and 7 alternate tracks not used in the film. The music has been expanded over the original soundtrack album by more than an hour. Limited to 5000 copies, the 2 CD presentation is now available to order on La-La Land Records’ website, where the album also can be previewed with several audio clips. First Knight is directed by Jerry Zucker and stars Sean Connery, Richard Gere and Julia Ormond.

Ramin Djawadi taking over ‘Game of Thrones’

TV Squad reports that Ramin Djawadi has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming HBO series Game of Thrones. He is replacing composer Stephen Warbeck who was originally scoring the project as reported last year. The fantasy drama based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire stars Sean Bean, Mark Addy, Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey and will have its premiere on April 17, 2011 on HBO.
