Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release of the complete score for the 1982 epic adventure Conan the Barbarian directed by John Milius and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan, James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom and Sandahl Bergman as Valeria. The album includes the complete score composed by Basil Poledouris (Robocop, Starship Troopers), as well as the original 1982 soundtrack album and a number of alternates. The 3-CD set is now available to order on Intrada’s website, where you can also check out audio clips and the full track list.

Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in almost 3000 theaters is the horror comedy Fright Night directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Christopher Mintz-Please, David Tennant and Toni Collette. The film’s music is composed by Ramin Djawadi. A soundtrack CD will be released on August 30, 2011 by Varese Sarabande. Also opening wide is the action remake of Conan the Barbarian directed by Marcus Nispel and starring Jason Momoa, Ron Perlman, Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Stephen Lang. ‘Conan the Barbarian’ Soundtrack Details
Warner Bros. Records has announced a soundtrack album for the upcoming remake of Conan the Barbarian. The album includes the film’s original score by composer Tyler Bates. The soundtrack will be released on August 16, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album after the jump. Conan the Barbarian is directed by Marcus Nispel and follows the mythical hero driven to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village. The movie stars Jason Momoa, Ron Perlman, Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Stephen Lang and will be released on August 19 by Lionsgate.
Tyler Bates Confirmed to Score ‘Conan the Barbarian’
Film Music Reporter has finally been able to confirm that Tyler Bates has been assigned to score the upcoming remake of Conan the Barbarian. Conan the Barbarian is directed by Marcus Nispel who previously worked with composers Steve Jablonsky (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th) and Jonathan Elias (Pathfinder). The movie centering on the mythical hero driven to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village stars Jason Momoa, Ron Perlman, Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Stephen Lang. The Millennium/Nu Image film is scheduled to be released on August 19, 2011 by Lionsgate.
03/11/2011 UPDATE: We initially reported that Tim Williams will be co-composing the score according to the resume at the composer’s official webpage. The composer’s website is now listing him as just doing orchestrations, so we’re assuming that Bates will be the only credited composer. Williams has been orchestrating and conducting Bates’ recent scores and also co-wrote the score for the recent animated TV show Sym-Bionic Titan with Bates.
