Ramin Djawadi has signed on to score the pilot of the upcoming HBO original series Westworld. The show is created by Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight, Memento) & Lisa Joy based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 film of the same title and stars Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Ed Harris, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman. The show is set at an amusement park and is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. Nolan & Joy are also executive producing the Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television production with J. J. Abrams & Bryan Burk (Lost, Star Trek) and Jerry Weintraub (Ocean’s Eleven, The Karate Kid).

Opening in most theaters is the family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day directed by Miguel Arteta and starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Ed Oxenbould, Kerris Dorsey, Megan Mullally, Jennifer Coolidge and Bella Thorne. The film’s original music is composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover). Also opening wide is the drama The Judge directed by David Dobkin and starring Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Billy Bob Thornton and Vincent D’Onofrio. Ramin Djawadi to Score Duncan Jones’ ‘Warcraft’ Movie
Ramin Djawadi has signed on to score the upcoming fantasy adventure Warcraft. The film directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) is based on the popular video game series of the same title and stars Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell and Rob Kazinsky. The movie is being described as an origin story and chronicles how the the humans and orcs came into conflict. Jones has also co-written the screenplay with Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond, K-Pax, The Mighty). Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Godzilla, 300: Rise of an Empire, 42) are producing the project for Legendary Pictures, alongside Charles Roven (The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, American Hustle) and Alex Gartner (Get Smart) for Atlas Entertainment.
‘Dracula Untold’ Soundtrack Details
Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the action adventure Dracula Untold. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim, Iron Man, Clash of the Titans). The soundtrack will be released on October 7, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Dracula Untold is directed by Gary Shore and stars Luke Evans, Sarah Gadon, Diarmaid Murtagh and Dominic Cooper. The movie tells the origin story of the man who became Dracula and follows a young prince who risks his soul to save his wife and child from a bloodthirsty sultan and in the process becomes the first vampire.
SCL Hosts Reception for Music Emmy Nominees
On Thursday evening, the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) hosted its annual reception honoring the Emmy Award-nominated composers and songwriters in the music-related categories at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences headquarters in North Hollywood. SCL president Ashley Irwin, as well as Television Academy music peer group governors Ian Fraser and Michael A. Levine introduced the nominees who briefly spoke to the audience. Among the composers in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Series category present at the event were Ramin Djawadi who was Emmy-nominated before for Prison Break and Fast Forward and received his first nomination this year for his score for HBO’s Game of Thrones, as well as previous Emmy winner Jeff Beal who received his third nomination for his music from Netflix’s House of Cards after being nominated twice last year for both his score and his main title theme from the show.

Premiering tonight is the FX original series The Strain based on the vampire novel trilogy written by Guillermo del Toro & Chuck Hogan, executive produced by del Toro & Carlton Cuse and starring Corey Stoll, John Hurt, Kevin Durand, Mía Maestro, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Javier Botet, Miguel Gomez, Natalie Brown, Jack Kesy, Sean Astin, Robert Maillet and Francis Capra. The show’s original music is composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Person of Interest) who previously collaborated with del Toro on last year’s Pacific Rim. WaterTower Music to Release ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 4 Soundtrack
WaterTower Music will release the fourth soundtrack album for the HBO hit series Game of Thrones. The album features selections from the score of the fourth season composed by Ramin Djawadi (Pacific Rim, Iron Man, Clash of the Titans). The soundtrack will be released on July 1, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full album details. No word yet on whether Sigur Rós’ version of The Rains of Castamere, which was released as a single yesterday, will be featured on the release. The label has previously released a soundtrack album for the third season, while Varese Sarabande released soundtracks for season 1 and season 2.
‘African Safari 3D’ Soundtrack Announced
Studiocanal will release a soundtrack album for the documentary African Safari 3D. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim, Iron Man, Clash of the Titans). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 14, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. African Safari 3D is directed by Ben Stassen who previously collaborated with Djawadi on such films as Fly Me to the Moon 3D and the two A Turtle’s Tale features. The documentary follows an expedition from the “Skeleton” coast in Namibia all the way to the top of Kiliminjaro. The movie has already been released in several international territories and will open in France on April 16.
Ramin Djawadi to Score ‘Dracula Untold’
Ramin Djawadi has been hired to score historical horror thriller Dracula Untold. The film is helmed by commercials director Gary Shore and tells the origin story of the man who became Dracula. Luke Evans stars in the title role as a young prince who risks his soul to save his wife and child from a bloodthirsty sultan and in the process becomes the first vampire. Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Samantha Barks, Art Parkinson and Charlie Cox are co-starring. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have written the screenplay. Michael De Luca (The Social Network, Moneyball, Captain Phillips) is producing the project, which is also produced by Legendary Pictures.
‘Person of Interest’ – Season 2 Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the second soundtrack album for the CBS drama Person of Interest. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim, Iron Man). The soundtrack will be released on January 14, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring musical highlights from the first season, as well as the main titles theme composed by executive producer J.J. Abrams. Person of Interest is created by Jonathan Nolan and stars Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Taraji P. Henson and Kevin Chapman. The second season of the Bad Robots production is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD and the show’s third season air every Tuesday night on CBS.
