Relativity Music Group will release a deluxe edition of the soundtrack album for Dreamworks Animation’s Turbo. The album features eleven additional tracks from the film’s original score composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph) in addition to the content of the regular edition that was announced last week. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 16, 2013. Turbo is directed by David Soren and features a voice cast including Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Richard Jenkins, Bill Hader Luis Guzmán, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson. The animated feature is set to be released on July 19, 2013.

Two new movies are opening wide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the Superman reboot Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni and Russell Crowe. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer. WaterTower Music has released two different soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film, including the original track Take Yo Panties Off by Snoop Dogg & Craig Robinson, as well as tracks by Cypress Hill, Whitney Houston, Funkadelic, Backstreet Boys, Norman Greenbaum, J-Kwon, K.Flay and a track from James Franco’s band Daddy. The film’s score is composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph). Varese Sarabande Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally. Also opening wide is the sci-fi romance The Host directed by Andrew Niccol, based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer and starring Saoirse Ronan, Jake Abel, Max Irons, William Hurt, Diane Kruger, Chandler Canterbury and Frances Fisher. Antonio Pinto (City of God, Snitch) has composed the film’s original score. Henry Jackman Scoring Dreamworks Animation’s ‘Turbo’
Henry Jackman is scoring the upcoming Dreamworks Animation feature Turbo. The movie is directed by David Soren (Merry Madagascar) and follows an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. The film’s voice talent includes Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson. Lisa Stewart (Monsters vs Aliens) is producing the project. Jackman has previously scored Dreamworks Animation’s features Puss in Boots and Monsters vs Aliens. Turbo is set to be released on July 19, 2013 by Dreamworks and 20th Century Fox.

‘Wreck-It-Ralph’ Wins Annie Award for Best Music
Composer Henry Jackman, Skrillex, Adam Young, Matthew Thiessen, Jamie Houston and Yasushi Akimoto have received the Annie Award in the Music in an Animated Feature Production category for their music for Disney’s animated movie Wreck-It-Ralph. The other contenders in the category were Alexandre Desplat for Rise of the Guardians, Bruce Retief for Adventures in Zambezia, Joel McNeely, Brendan Milburn & Valerie Vigoda for Secret of the Wings, John Powell, Adam Schlesinger & Ester Dean for Ice Age: Continental Drift, John Powell & Cinco Paul for Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, Mark Mothersbaugh for Hotel Transylvania and Patrick Doyle, Mark Andrews & Alex Mandel for Brave. Wreck-It-Ralph also won four other Annies, including Best Animated Feature and Directing in a Feature Production.
Henry Jackman Scoring Paul Greengrass’ ‘Captain Phillips’
Henry Jackman has been tapped to score the upcoming drama Captain Phillips. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass and stars Tom Hanks as the skipper of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama who alloweed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates in 2009 in order to guarantee the safety of his crew. Catherine Keener and Max Martini are co-starring. The movie is based on the memoir A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea by Captain Richard Phillips and was adapted for the screen by Billy Ray (Breach, Flightplan). Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men), Michael De Luca & Dana Brunetti (The Social Network, 21) and Kevin Spacey are producing the project. Greengrass’ previous four features (The Bourne Supremacy & Ultimatum, United 93, Green Zone) were scored by John Powell.
Henry Jackman to Score ‘The End of the World’
Henry Jackman is currently scoring the upcoming apocalyptic comedy The End of the World. The film marks the directorial debut of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg who have previously co-written such films as Superbad, Pineapple Express and The Green Hornet. Rogen also stars in the movie alongside James Franco, Jonah Hill, Emma Watson, Jay Baruchel, Jason Segel, Rihanna, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Aziz Ansari, David Krumholtz, Kevin Hart and Michael Cera who all play themselves facing the apocalypse while stuck at Franco’s apartment. Rogen and Goldberg have also written the screenplay and are producing the Mandate Pictures and Point Grey Pictures with James Weaver (50/50).
