Two new movies are opening wide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the Superman reboot Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni and Russell Crowe. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer. WaterTower Music has released two different soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. Already in theaters since Wednesday is the apocalyptic comedy This is the End written and directed by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg and starring James Franco, Jonah Hill, Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera and Emma Watson. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film, including the original track Take Yo Panties Off by Snoop Dogg & Craig Robinson, as well as tracks by Cypress Hill, Whitney Houston, Funkadelic, Backstreet Boys, Norman Greenbaum, J-Kwon, K.Flay and a track from James Franco’s band Daddy. Behind the Music of ‘Man of Steel’

Rolling Stone premiered a behind the scenes video featurette on the music of Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel. The video features interviews with composer Hans Zimmer and the director, as well as footage from the recording sessions of the score. Check out the full video after the jump. ‘Man of Steel’ Soundtrack Audio Preview

Audio clips from all tracks of the soundtrack album for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel have surfaced. As previously reported, WaterTower Music will release a regular and a deluxe edition featuring the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer. The regular edition featuring 18 tracks on 2 CDs is now available for pre-order on Amazon and a limited deluxe edition featuring additional tracks plus access to behind-the-scenes footage can be pre-ordered here. ‘Man of Steel’ Soundtrack Update

More details for the soundtrack albums for Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel have been revealed. As previously reported, two different albums featuring the film’s music composed by Hans Zimmer will be released. Both the regular and and deluxe edition are 2-disc sets and feature the 28 minute long track Man of Steel (Hans Original Sketchbook), which is performed solely by Zimmer and allows listeners to experience his initial experiments with the film’s music, which ultimately lay the foundation for the film’s final score. The deluxe edition will be housed in embossed steel case and allows users to access multiple videos showing a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the music. WaterTower Music also released more details about the score, for which a drum orchestra was brought that features such musicians as John JR Robinson, Jason Bonham, Josh Freese, Pharrell Williams, Danny Carey, Satnam Ramgotra, Toss Panos, Jim Keltner, Curt Bisquera, Trevor Lawrence Jr., Matt Chamberlain, Ryeland Allison, Bernie Dresel, Vinnie Colaiuta and Sheila E.

Film Music Reporter has received the track list of the soundtrack for the highly anticipated Superman reboot Man of Steel. The music is composed by Hans Zimmer. Hans Zimmer to Score ‘Man of Steel’

Hans Zimmer has signed on to score Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel. The film stars Henry Cavill in the title role, alongside Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. Christopher Meloni, Laurence Fishburne and Michael Shannon are also starring. David Goyer (Batman Begins, Blade) has written the screenplay. Christopher Nolan who has worked with Zimmer on Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception and the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises is producing the DC Entertainment production with Emma Thomas, Charles Roven (Three Kings, Twelve Monkeys) and Deborah Snyder (Watchmen). Snyder has previously collaborated with composer Tyler Bates on his previous features, including Watchmen, Sucker Punch, Dawn of the Dead and 300.
