Lakeshore Records will release for Rebecca Hall’s feature directorial debut Passing. The album features music from and inspired by the film composed by Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) (Queen & Slim, We Are Who We Are, Palo Alto, Mainstream). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 10 and will be available to stream/download here. Passing is written and directed by Hall and stars Tessa Thompson, Ruth Negga, André Holland and Alexander Skarsgård. The movie based on the Harlem Renaissance novel by Nella Larsen is set in 1920s New York City and follows a Black woman who finds her world upended when her life becomes intertwined with a former childhood friend who’s passing as white.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (October 29, 2021)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the psychological horror thriller Last Night in Soho co-written and directed by Edgar Wright and starring Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Terence Stamp, Matt Smith, Diana Rigg, Michael Ajao, Rita Tushingham and Synnøve Karlsen. The film’s original score is composed by Steven Price (Gravity, Our Planet, Fury, Over the Moon, Suicide Squad, Baby Driver, The World’s End). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the full album details), as well as a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie by artists including Dusty Springfield, The Who, The Walker Brothers, The Kinks, The Searchers & others last week (click here for more information).
Also opening wide is the supernatural horror thriller Antlers co-written and directed by Scott Cooper and starring Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jeremy T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane and Amy Madigan. Devonté Hynes to Score HBO Max’s ‘Rap Sh*t’
Deadline is reporting that Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) (Queen & Slim, We Are Who We Are, Palo Alto, Mainstream, In Treatment) has signed on to score the upcoming HBO Max original series Rap Sh*t. The show is created by Issa Rae (Insecure) and stars Aida Osman, KaMillion, Jonica Booth, Devon Terrell and RJ Cyler. The comedy follows two estranged high school friends from Miami who reunite to form a rap group.
Soundtrack Album for HBO’s ‘In Treatment’ Season 4 Released
Milan Records has released a new soundtrack album for the HBO original series In Treatment. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s fourth season composed by Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) (Queen & Slim, We Are Who We Are, Palo Alto, Mainstream). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. Season 4 of In Treatment stars Uzo Aduba, Anthony Ramos, Liza Colón-Zayas, Quintessa Swindell John Benjamin Hickey and Joel Kinnaman. The drama is set in present-day Los Angeles and revolves around a therapist who helps her patients navigate a variety of modern concerns and issues such as the global pandemic and recent major social and cultural shifts.

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Gia Coppola’s comedy drama Mainstream. The album features the film’s original music composed by Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) (Queen & Slim, We Are Who We Are, Passing) who previously scored the director’s last feature, Palo Alto. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 7 and will be available to stream/download here. Mainstream is co-written and directed by Coppola and stars Maya Hawke, Andrew Garfield, Nat Wolff, Kalena Yiaueki, Johnny Knoxville and Jason Schwartzman. The movie follows a young woman who thinks she’s found a path to internet stardom when she starts making YouTube videos with a charismatic stranger – until the dark side of viral celebrity threatens to ruin them both.

The show is created and directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria, I Am Love) and stars Chloë Sevigny, Jack Dylan Grazer, Alice Braga, Jordan Kristine Seamón, Spence Moore II, Kid Cudi, Faith Alabi, Francesca Scorsese, Ben Taylor, Corey Knight, Tom Mercier and Sebastiano Pigazzi. The drama follows a shy and introverted fourteen-year-old boy who moves from New York to a military base in Veneto with his mothers who are both in the U.S. Army.
