Dan Romer (Luca, Station Eleven, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Maniac) has teamed up with Osei Essed (How to Survive a Pandemic, Katrina Babies, Finders Keepers) to score the new Hulu original series Saint X. The show is developed by Leila Gerstein (Hart of Dixie, Cursed) based on Alexis Schaitkin’s novel of the same name and stars Alycia Debnam-Carey, Josh Bonzie, West Duchovny, Bre Francis, Jayden Elijah, Kenlee Anaya Townsend, Michael Park and Betsy Brandt. The 8-part drama is told via multiple timelines and explores how a young woman’s mysterious death during a Caribbean vacation creates a ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth.

Soundtrack Album for Apple TV+’s ‘Extrapolations’ to Be Released
Mercury Classics Soundtrack & Score will release a soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ original anthology series Extrapolations. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season composed by Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Station Eleven), Jason Hill (Mindhunter, Voir) and David Wingo (Barry, Take Shelter, Midnight Special). Also included are songs by Rufus Wainwright, Portugal. The Man, Ben Harper, Ryoko & The Earl and Zager & Evans. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 21 and will be available to stream/download on most major digital music services, including Amazon. Extrapolations is created by Scott Z. Burns and stars Meryl Streep, Edward Norton, Kit Harington, Diane Lane,Sienna Miller, Yara Shahidi, Daveed Diggs,Marion Cotillard, Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Gemma Chan, Adarsh Gourav, Indira Varma, David Schwimmer, Heather Graham, Forest Whitaker and Tahar Rahim.

Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British limited series A Spy Among Friends created by Alexander Cary based on Ben Macintyre’s bestselling book and starring Damian Lewis, Guy Pearce, Stephen Kunken, Anna Maxwell Martin, and Adrian Edmondson. The show’s original music is composed by Dustin O’Halloran (Lion, Like Crazy, Transparent, The Old Guard, Ammonite, The Essex Serpent). Dan Romer Scoring Imran J. Khan’s ‘Mustache’
Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Station Eleven, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation, Superman & Lois) has composed the original music for the upcoming coming-of-age comedy drama Mustache. The film is written and directed by Imran J. Khan and stars Atharva Verma, Rizwan Manji, Alicia Silverstone, Meesha Shafi, Hasan Minhaj and Ayana Manji. The movie is set in mid-90s in Northern California and revolves around a 13-year-old boy who hatches a plan to return to his old Islamic private school after his parents make him go to public school.
Dan Romer Scoring Jake Johnson’s ‘Self Reliance’
Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Maniac, Station Eleven, Beasts of No Nation, Atypical) is scoring the upcoming comedy Self Reliance. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Jake Johnson who also stars alongside Anna Kendrick, Andy Samberg, Natalie Morales, Christopher Lloyd, GaTa, Wayne Brady, Emily Hampshire, Boban Marjanović and Mary Holland. The movie follows a man who is offered a million dollars to play a game in which hunters try to kill him.

Premiering in the U.S. on Tuesday, October 11, is the internationally produced TV series Professionals created by Jeff Most & Michael Colleary and starring Tom Welling, Brendan Fraser, Elena Anaya, Jazzara Jaslyn and Ken Duken. Kormac has composed the show’s original music. The action drama, which follows a top-tier security operative who is paid to protect the interests of rich and powerful clients by any means necessary, first premiered in Scandinavian markets on Viaplay back in 2020 and is making its U.S. debut on The CW.

Dan Romer (Luca, Station Eleven, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation) has teamed up with Giosuè Greco (Not Going Quietly, Big Man on Campus, Welcome to Wrexham) to score the new Showtime original series Let the Right One In. The show is developed by Andrew Hinderaker (Away) inspired by the Swedish novel and feature (scored by Johan Söderqvist) of the same title and stars Demián Bichir, Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer, Madison Taylor Baez, Ian Foreman, Kevin Carroll, Jacob Buster and Nick Stahl. The 10-part dramatic thriller follows a father and his daughter who turned into a vampire ten years ago and is living a closed-in life, able to go out only at night.
Dan Romer & John Zarcone Scoring FX’s ‘Little Demon’
Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation, Station Eleven) & John Zarcone (Big Man on Campus) have teamed up to score the new FX animated series Little Demon. The show is created by Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner & Kieran Valla and features the voices of Danny DeVito, Aubrey Plaza and Lucy DeVito. The animated comedy follows a reluctant mother and her Antichrist daughter as they attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware, but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. Michael Giacchino (Up, The Batman, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange, Jurassic World, Lost) has composed the themes and has co-scored the movie with Nami Melumad (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds & Prodigy, An American Pickle). Hollywood Records/Marvel Music have released a soundtrack featuring the composers’ score. Opening in select U.S. theaters is the French drama Both Sides of the Blade (Avec amour et acharnement) co-written and directed by Claire Denis and starring Juliette Binoche, Vincent Lindon, Grégoire Colin, Bulle Ogier, Issa Perica and Mati Diop. The film’s original music composed by Tindersticks (High Life, White Material, Bastards). No word on a soundtrack release.
