Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Already in theaters since Wednesday is the action thriller No Escape directed by John Erick Dowdle and starring Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, I, Robot, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma, Hellboy) and Buck Sanders (Warm Bodies, The Hurt Locker). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the song Take Care of You by Jim James. Also opening wide this week is the drama We Are Your Friends directed by Max Joseph and starring Zac Efron, Emily Ratajkowski, Wes Bentley, Shiloh Fernandez, Alex Shaffer, Jonny Weston and Jon Bernthal. Segal aka Matthew Simpson (Skins) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring tracks by EDM artists including Justice, Tchami, Will Sparks, Dom Dolla, Hayden James, The Magician, Years & Years, The Americanos & more. ‘No Escape’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for the action thriller No Escape have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marco Beltrami (The Wolverine, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, World War Z) and Buck Sanders (The Hurt Locker, Warm Bodies). Also included is a song by Jim James. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 21, 2015 and physically on October 2 by Lakeshore Records. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. No Escape is directed by John Erick Dowdle and stars Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell. The movie follows an American businessman and his family who settle into their new home in Southeast Asia and suddenly finding themselves in the middle of a violent political uprising.

Steven Price, Steve Jablonsky, Stanley Clarke & Pharrell Williams Invited to Join the Academy

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 271 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Among the invited artists this year a number of film composers, including Steven Price (The World’s End, Attack the Block) who received his first Academy Award this year for Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, Steve Jablonsky who is best known for his collaborations with Michael Bay, including the Transformers movies, as well as films such as Ender’s Game, Battleship and Gangster Squad, Stanley Clarke who scored such movies as Passenger 57, The Best Man Holiday and Boyz N the Hood and Buck Sanders (Warm Bodies) who received an Oscar nomination for The Hurt Locker.

‘Warm Bodies’ Score Released

Lionsgate Records has released a score album for the zombie romance Warm Bodies. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composers Marco Beltrami (Scream, 3:10 to Yuma) and Buck Sanders (The Hurt Locker, Max Payne). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Warm Bodies is directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50) and stars Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, Dave Franco, Analeigh Tipton and John Malkovich. The movie based on the novel by Isaac Marion about a zombie who rescues a girl from an attack and inadvertently sparks a cross-dead romance is now playing in theaters nationwide.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark directed by Troy Nixey, produced by Guillermo Del Toro and starring Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison. The film’s music is composed by Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders. A soundtrack album featuring the score has been released digitally earlier this week and will be coming out on CD on September 27 on Lakeshore Records. Also opening wide is the indie comedy Our Idiot Brother directed by Jesse Peretz and starring Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer, Steve Coogan, Hugh Dancy, Rashida Jones and Shirley Knight. Nathan Larson and Eric D. Johnson composed the movie’s score. Abkco Records has released a soundtrack album including selections of the score, as well as several songs from the movie. ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming horror thriller Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. The album features the film’s original score by Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 30, 2011 and on CD on September 27 (available for pre-order on Amazon). Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be check out below. Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark directed by Troy Nixey and produced by Guillermo Del Toro stars Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison. The movie premiered earlier this summer at the Los Angeles Film Festival and will be released in theaters on August 26 by Film District.

Marco Beltrami has been hired to score the upcoming horror thriller The Thing. The prequel’s story takes place before the actions of the 1982 classic directed by John Carpenter. The movie directed by Matthijs van Heijingen Jr. is set in the Antarctica where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. The Thing stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eric Christian Olsen and Joel Edgerton. Universal Pictures has set a April 29, 2011 release date for the movie.

A new video interview with composers Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders who were nominated for an Academy Award for their score for The Hurt Locker was recently uploaded at Hikari Takano’s interview page. In the interview, Beltrami and Sanders talk about their collaboration, the Oscar nomination, as well as their work on this year’s Best Picture winner.
