WaterTower Music will release the official soundtrack album for Steven Spielberg’s film adaptation of Ready Player One. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avengers, The Croods). A 2-CD version is set to be released on April 6, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital version is expected to be released in late March. Complete ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ Soundtrack Announced
Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Robert Zemeckis’ 1988 classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit starring Bob Hoskins, Christopher Lloyd, Stubby Kaye, Charles Fleischer and Joanna Cassidy. The 3-CD set features the complete original score from the Touchstone Pictures production composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Cast Away, The Croods, Captain America: The First Avenger), including more than 50 minutes of previously unreleased music, as well as alternate cues on the first two discs and the content of the original 1988 album on the third disc. Also included is the world premiere release of Bruce Broughton‘s music from the 1990/1993 animated shorts Rollercoaster Rabbit and Trail Mix-Up, as well as James Horner‘s score from 1989’s Tummy Trouble.
Expanded ‘Waterworld’ & ‘Romancing the Stone’ Soundtracks Announced
La-La Land Records has announced the details of its latest soundtrack releases, including a new soundtrack for Universal Pictures’ 1995 action adventure Waterworld directed by Kevin Reynolds and starring Kevin Costner, Dennis Hopper and Jeanne Tripplehorn. The album features the expanded and remastered score from the movie composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, he Sixth Sense, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, King Kong), including the previously unreleased music and the movie’s original composer Mark Isham’s Music Box Theme . The 2-CD set is limited to 3000 copies and is now available for pre-order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples.
Alan Silvestri to Score Steven Spielberg’s ‘Ready Player One’
Alan Silvestri has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming film adaptation of Ready Player One. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Tye Sheridan, Oliva Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Win Morisaki, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg and T.J Miller. The movie is based on the 2011 novel by Ernest Cline and follows a group of teenagers on a quest for riches in a futuristic virtual world. Spielberg is also producing the project with Donald De Line (The Italian Job, Green Lantern), Kristie Macosko Krieger (Bridge of Spies) and Dan Farah (Armored).
‘Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey’ Soundtrack CDs Announced
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere CD release of the soundtrack albums for the Fox docu-series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, Ann Druyan, Mitchell Cannold & Brannon Braga and hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. The albums feature the show’s original music composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger), including bonus tracks that were not featured on the digital soundtrack release, which came out back in 2014. The Vol. 1 soundtrack is now available to order on the label’s website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio samples.

Alan Silvestri Honored at BMI Film, TV & Visual Media Awards
Last night, Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) held its annual Film & TV & Visual Awards at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Alan Silvestri was honored with the organization’s Icon Award for his impactful contribution in the realm of film and television music. The composer whose credits include such hit movies as Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Mummy Returns and Captain America: The First Avenger was presented the award by the evening’s host, BMI Vice President, Film/TV Relations, Doreen Ringer-Ross and BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill.

The annual ceremony will be held Wednesday, May 10, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills and will be hosted by BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill and BMI Vice President Film, TV & Visual Media Relations Doreen Ringer-Ross. BMI will bestow the Icon Award to Silvestri for his impactful contribution in the realm of film and television music. Throughout his career, the composer has scored over a hundred titles and earned two Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, two Emmy Awards and three GRAMMY awards.

The composer also co-wrote the movie’s original songs with Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) and Opetaia Foa’i. The full details of the soundtrack album for Robert Zemeckis’ romantic thriller Allied have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award nominee Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger). Also included are five swing classics as featured in the movie by Benny Goodman, Louis Primas & more.
