(BMI) held its annual Film & TV & Visual Awards at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Alan Silvestri was honored with the organization’s Icon Award for his impactful contribution in the realm of film and television music. The composer whose credits include such hit movies as Back to the FutureForrest GumpThe AvengersWho Framed Roger RabbitThe Mummy Returns and Captain America: The First Avenger was presented the award by the evening’s host, BMI Vice President, Film/TV Relations, Doreen Ringer-Ross and BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill. Several of the composer’s frequent collaborators congratulated him via a tribute video, including director Robert Zemeckis who worked with the composer on all of his movies since 1984’s Romancing the Stone, Shawn Levy (Night of the Museum trilogy), Chris Sanders (The CroodsLilo & Stitch) and scoring mixer Dennis Sands.

Throughout the evening, composers of music featured in the past year’s top-grossing films, top-rated primetime network television series, and highest-ranking cable and streamed media programs were also celebrated.
