Intrada Records has released a limited edition of the soundtrack for the 1990 western Young Guns II. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Alan Silvestri. Only one track from Silvestri’s music has previously been released on the original soundtrack in 1990. Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
The comic book adaptation Captain America:The First Avenger directed by Joe Johnston and starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Dominic Cooper features music by Alan Silvestri. A soundtrack album including the composer’s score has been released on Buena Vista Records. Check out our soundtrack announcement for more information and audio clips. Also featured on the album is the song Star Spangled Man (music by Alan Menken and lyrics by David Zippel). Buena Vista Records has announced the details for the soundtrack release of Captain America: The First Avenger. The album includes the original score by Alan Silvestri, as well as the original song Star Spangled Man with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by David Zippel. The soundtrack will be released on July 19, 2011 and is available to pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from each track on the album below. The music was recorded at Air Studios in London. Buena Vista Records will be releasing the soundtrack album for the comic book adaptation of Captain America: The First Avenger. The album is set to be released on July 19, 2011. No announcement has been made yet about the soundtrack’s contents, but it is expected that Alan Silvestri‘s score, as well as composer Alan Menken‘s and lyricist David Zippel‘s song for the film will be included on the release. BREAKING NEWS: Alan Silvestri to score ‘Captain America’
Film Music Reporter has learned that Alan Silvestri has signed on to score the upcoming comic book movie Captain America: The First Avenger. The film marks the first collaboration between Silvestri and director Joe Johnston, who previously has worked with such composers as James Horner, Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard and Mark Isham. The film also marks Silvestri’s first scoring assignment since last year’s summer action film The A-Team and his first comic book adaptation since 1995’s Judge Dredd starring Sylvester Stallone. A number of composers, including Michael Giacchino and John Powell have been rumored to take the scoring assignment, but ultimately Silvestri was hired to score the film. Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Dominic Cooper is scheduled to open on July 21, 2011.
Expanded Eraser score released
La-Land-Land Records has released an expanded score album for Alan Silvestri’s Eraser earlier this week. The CD includes almost 80 minutes of the score, including more than 30 minutes of unreleased material. The album is limited to 3000 copies. Eraser centers around a Witness Protection specialist becomes suspicious of his co-workers when dealing with a case involving high-tech weapons. The movie directed by Chuck Russell stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Vanessa Williams and James Caan. Click here to listen to soundclips and order the CD.
Silvestri’s Dutch score released
La-La-Land Records announced the world premiere release of Alan Silvestri’s score for the 1991 comedy Dutch. The John Hughes produced movie stars Ed O’Neill, Ethan Embry and JoBeth Williams. The CD is limited to 1200 copies and can be ordered at the label’s webpage where you can also listen to clips from the score.
