Quartet Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1972 movie adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island directed by John Hough and starring Orson Welles (who also wrote the original version of the screenplay), Kim Burfield, Lionel Stander, Walter Slezak and Ángel del Pozo. The album features the film’s original music composed by Natale Massara (Craving Desire). The soundtrack is being released to coincide with the movie’s 50th Anniversary is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full track list, check out audio samples and to order the CD, which is limited to 500 copies. Last week, Amelia Warner (Mary Shelley, Wild Mountain Thyme, Mum’s List) has recorded her score for the upcoming romantic comedy Mr. Malcolm’s List. The film is directed by Emma Holly Jones and stars Zawe Ashton, Freida Pinto, Sope Dirisu, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Theo James and Ashley Park. The movie is set in the early 19th Century and revolves around a society lady who gets jilted by London’s most eligible bachelor when she fails to meet one of the items on his list of requirements for a bride and enlists her friend to help her take revenge by tricking him into thinking he has found his perfect match. Why Not Productions has released a soundtrack album for the French drama The Crusade (La croisade). The album features the film’s original music composed by Grégoire Hetzel (Ismael’s Ghosts, Incendies, Lovers, The Midwife, SummertimeOh Mercy!Holy Lands). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. The Crusade is directed by Louis Garrel and stars Laetitia Casta, Joseph Engel, as well as Garrel himself who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jean-Claude Carrière. The movie follows a couple who discover that their 13-year-old son has been selling the family’s valuables to finance a secret ecological project in Africa he believes will save the planet. Hans Zimmer has received his third Golden Globe in the Original Score category for his score for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic Dune at tonight’s 79th Golden Globe Awards ceremony. He previously his first two Golden Globes for 1994’s The Lion King and 2000’s Gladiator and was honored with multiple other nominations over the last three decades. The other composers nominated in the score category were Alexandre Desplat (The French Dispatch), Germaine Franco (Encanto), Jonny Greenwood (The Power of the Dog) and Alberto Iglesias (Parallel Mother). Dubois Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Sky original series A Discovery of Witches. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s third and final season composed by Rob Lane (John AdamsMerlin, The Damned United, AtlantisMotherFatherSonBeowulf). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 10 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The label has previously released two soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score from Season 1 and Season 2. A Discovery of Witches is  is based on Deborah Harkness’ historical fantasy novel and stars Teresa Palmer, Matthew Goode, Edward Bluemel, Alex Kingston,Malin Buska, Valarie Pettiford,  Aiysha Hart, Owen Teale, Trevor Eve, Steven Cree, Paul Rhys, Adelle Leonce and Lindsay Duncan. Premiering tonight is the new Fox comedy Pivoting created by Liz Astrof and starring Eliza Coupe, Ginnifer Goodwin, Maggie Q, JT Neal, Tommy Dewey and Marcello Reyes. The show’s original music is composed by Gabriel Mann (Modern Family, A Million Little Things, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Rectify, The Unicorn, Rosewood). Composer Piers Burbrook de Vere is reteaming with writer/director Abe Forsythe on the new Peacock/Stan original series Wolf Like Me. The show is created, written and directed by Forsythe and stars Josh Gad, Isla Fisher and Ariel Donoghue. The romantic dramedy centers on the relationship between a man who struggles to provide for his daughter since the death of his wife and a woman who has a secret she can’t bring herself to share with anyone. Marilyn Bergman has passed away today at her home in Los Angeles. She was 93. Together with her husband Alan, the songwriter/lyricist wrote dozens of songs for film and television and won three Academy Awards for the songs The Way We Were from Sydney Pollack’s movie of the same title, The Windmills of Your Mind from Norman Jewison’s The Thomas Crown Affair, as well as the (song) score from 1983’s Yentl. Among her 16 Oscar nominations also were songs for Tootsie, Sydney Pollack’s Sabrina, Shirley Valentine, Yes, Giorgio, Best Friends, The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, The Happy Ending, Same Time, Next Year and The Promise. The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the spy thriller The 355 co-written and directed by Simon Kinberg and starring Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, Bingbing Fan, Édgar Ramirez and Sebastian Stan. The film’s original music is composed by Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Deadpool, Godzilla vs. Kong, Alita: Battle Angel, Divergent, Black Mass). No word on a soundtrack release. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD is the Australian comedy drama June Again written and directed by JJ Winlove and starring Noni Hazlehurst, Claudia Karvan and Stephen Curry. Christopher Gordon (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, On the Beach, DaybreakersMoby DickCrawlAdore) has composed the film’s original music. The composer has released a soundtrack album featuring his score last spring when the movie opened in Australia.
