The team behind the sound mixing of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune has won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing in the Motion Pictures – Live Action category at tonight’s 58th annual Cinema Audio Society Awards ceremony at the InterContinental in Downtown Los Angeles. Scoring mixer Alan Meyerson, along with production mixer: Mac Ruth, re-recording mixers Ron Bartlett & Douglas Hemphill, ADR mixer Tommy O’Connell and foley mixer Don White received the award for the sci-fi epic scored by Hans Zimmer. Matt Vucic has released a soundtrack album for the psychological horror thriller Tethered. The album features the composer’s original music from the film and is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out audio samples. Tethered is directed by Daniel Robinette and stars Alexandra Paul, Kareem Ferguson, Brody Bett, Jared L. Cook and Chris Demm. The movie is set in the remote woods of North Carolina and follows a blind boy living by himself in total isolation and the hunter he befriends as they are stalked by a shadowy creature lurking in the woods. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the horror movie X written and directed by Ti West and starsring Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, Martin Henderson, Stephen Ure, Owen Campbell and Scott Mescudi. The film’s original music is composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, Watchmen, Hobbs & Shaw, John Wick, 300, Dawn of the Dead) and singer/songwriter Chelsea Wolfe. A24 Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score next Friday, March 25. Already available now is Wolfe’s cover of Oui Oui Marie. Also opening wide is the thriller The Outfit written and directed by Graham Moore and starring Mark Rylance, Dylan O’Brien, Zoey Deutch, Johnny Flynn, Simon Russell Beale, Nikki Amuka Bird and Alan Mehdizade. Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, The Imitation Game, The Queen, Godzilla) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has announced a soundtrack album for the coming-of-age horror drama We’re All Going to the World’s Fair. The album features the film’s original music composed by singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex G (aka Alex Giannascoli) who has made his feature scoring debut on the project.
