Sony Classical has released an additional track from Hans Zimmer LIVE, the Academy Award-winning composer’s international concert tour and album of the same title. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is Top Gun: Maverick Main Titles (Live), a reimagined version of the main titles music from Joseph Kosinki’s 2022 hit movie featuring the classic theme (written for the 1986 original movie) by Harold Faltermeyer. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ & ‘Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio’ Win Cinema Audio Society Awards
The team behind the sound mixing of Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick has won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing in the Motion Pictures – Live Action category at tonight’s 59th annual Cinema Audio Society Awards ceremony at the InterContinental in Downtown Los Angeles. Scoring mixers Al Clay & Stephen Lipson, along with production mixer Mark Weingarten, re-recording mixers Chris Burdon & Mark Taylor and foley mixer Blake Collins received the award for the film scored by Harold Faltermeyer, Hans Zimmer, Lady Gaga & Lorne Balfe. In the Motion Pictures – Animated category, scoring mixer Peter Cobbin & Kirsty Whalley were honored as part of the sound mixing team of Netflix’s Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (scored by Alexandre Desplat).

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action drama Top Gun: Maverick directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm and Ed Harris. The film’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Black Widow, His Dark Materials), Harold Faltermeyer (Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop), Lady Gaga and Hans Zimmer (Inception, Gladiator, The Dark Knight). Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as songs by Gaga, OneRepublic & Kenny Loggins today. Also opening wide is the animated feature The Bob’s Burgers Movie directed by Loren Bouchard & Bernard Derriman and starring Kristen Schaal, H. Jon Benjamin, Eugene Mirman, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Zach Galifianakis, Larry Murphy and Kevin Kline. Bouchard & Nora Smith wrote the film’s original songs and Tim Davies orchestrated, arranged and conducted the movie’s score. Bouchard, John Dylan Keith, Chris Maxwell, Phil Hernandez, Tim & Patrick Dacey and Brent Knopf are also credited for providing additional music. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Music Team Credits Revealed
The full music team credits for Joseph Kosinksi’s Top Gun: Maverick have been revealed. In addition to Harold Faltermeyer (who scored the original 1986 Top Gun), Lady Gaga (who contributed the original song Hold My Hand), Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe (who is credited as score producer and is believed to have been heavily involved in the composition of the film’s score) whose names appear in the film’s opening credits sequence, the full credits include such names as T Bone Burnett (True Detective, Inside Llewyn Davis), Ryan Tedder (who co-wrote OneRepublic’s original song I Ain’t Worried), former KCRW music director/host Jason Bentley and music supervisor Kathy Nelson as music consultants, David Fleming (Hillbilly Elegy, The Unforgivable), Andrew Kawczynski (Chappie, Sky Hunters) & Steve Mazzaro (The Boss Baby, Army of Thieves) as additional music composers, guitarist Guthrie Govan (The Aristocrats, Asia, The Young Punx) as score consultant and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith as a musician.

Interscope Records has released the original song I Ain’t Worried from the action drama Top Gun:Maverick. The track written by Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, Tyler Spry, John Eriksson, Peter Morén & Björn Yttling and performed by OneRepublic and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. As previously reported, Lady Gaga’s original song Hold My Hand from the film has been released earlier this month and a full soundtrack album will be coming out on May 27.

The track list of the soundtrack album for the action drama Top Gun: Maverick has been revealed. Hans Zimmer & Harold Faltermeyer to Score ‘Top Gun: Maverick’
Tom Cruise revealed in a video message at this yesterday’s Hollywood in Vienna concert that Hans Zimmer will be scoring the upcoming action drama Top Gun: Maverick. Hans-Zimmer.com has confirmed that the composer will be collaborating with Harold Faltermeyer who composed the music for Tony Scott’s 1986 original film. Cruise has previously mentioned that Faltermeyer’s music will be featured in the sequel. Top Gun: Maverick is directed by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion, Tron Legacy) and stars Cruise, alongside Miles Teller, Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez and Monica Barbaro.
Harold Faltermeyer to Return for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’
Tom Cruise revealed in a recent interview with Access Hollywood that music by composer Harold Faltermeyer will be featured in the upcoming sequel Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise will return to star in the movie. Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion) is reportedly in talks to direct and Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Rock, Armageddon, Remember the Titans) and Skydance’s David Ellison (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Terminator Genisys) will be producing the project. Faltermeyer previously scored the 1986 film and was honored with a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for his Top Gun Anthem.
