Nominations for 4th Annual SCL Awards Announced

The Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) has announced the nominees for the 4th Annual SCL Awards, which will take place on February 15th at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The final round of voting will commence on January 9, 2023. The Spirit of Collaboration and Jury Award winners will be announced in early January.

Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘Treason’ to Be Released

Netflix Music will release a soundtrack album for the streamer’s limited series Treason. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Jamie Salisbury (The Dead End, Up All Night). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 23 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Treason is created by Matt Charman and stars Charlie Cox, Olga Kurylenko, Oona Chaplin, Ciarán Hinds, Samuel Leakey, Beau Gadsdon, Alex Kingston and Tracy Ifeachor. ‘Ride Above’ (‘Tempête’) Soundtrack Album Released

Sony Music Publishing France has released a soundtrack album for the French drama Ride Above (Tempête). The album features the film’s original music composed by Michel Cusson (Omerta, Superpower Dogs, Race to Mars). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. Ride Above is directed by Christian Duguay and stars Mélanie Laurent, Pio Marmaï, Kacey Mottet-Klein, Charlie Paulet, Carmen Kassovitz, June Benard, as well as Carole Bouquet and Danny Huston. Michael Penn (Girls, Boogie Nights,  Masters of Sex, Sunshine Cleaning, On the Verge, The Last Kiss) is scoring the upcoming coming-of-age drama Fairyland. The film is written and directed by Andrew Durham and stars Emilia Jones, Scoot McNairy, Geena Davis, Cody Fern, Adam Lambert and Maria Bakalova. The movie based on Alysia Abbott’s 2013 memoir of the same is set in 1970s and 1980 San Francisco and centers on a young girl growing up with her father – widowed poet and gay activist Steve Abbott – amid the AIDS epidemic. The album features almost two hours of remixed and original versions of Whitney Houston songs, with special guest such as BeBe Winans, Kygo, Clean Bandit,Lucky Daye, Samaria, SG Lewis, Jax Jones, P2J, Oxlade, Leikeli47, Pheelz & others. Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek, The Martian, The Chronicles of Narnia, Mulan, The Last Duel, Kingdom of Heaven) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming shark thriller Meg 2: The Trench. The film is directed by Ben Wheatley (High-Rise, Free Fire, Rebecca) and stars Jason Statham, Wu Jing, Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Sienna Guillory, Skyler Samuels and Sergio Peris-Mencheta. Composer Martin Todsharow is reteaming with director Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, The Time Traveler’s Wife) on the upcoming German comedy Seneca – On the Creation of Earthquakes. The film starring John Malkovich, Tom Xander, Louis Hofmann, Geraldine Chaplin, Alexander Fehling, Andrew Koji, Lilith Stangenberg, Mary-Louise Parker & Julian Sands is set in Rome in 65 AD and centers on the relationship between Emperor Nero and his mentor, Philosopher Seneca who accused him of plotting his assassination. Tribeca Tunes has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 2014 Chinese fantasy adventure The Monkey King: Havoc in Heaven’s Place directed by Soi Cheang and starring Aaron Kwok, Chow Yun-Fat, Peter Ho, Kelly Chen and Joe Chen. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3, Hellraiser, Drag Me to Hell, Entrapment, The Hurricane, Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services.
