Sony Masterworks will release the official score album for the prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee James Newton Howard (King Kong, The Sixth Sense, Signs, Maleficent, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Fugitive) who previously scored all four original The Hunger Games movies. Also included are three newly reimagined piano suites based on Howard’s past themes from the franchise performed by featured soloist Yuja Wang who also performs the piano on the new score. Warner Music Denmark & SF Studios Production have released a new soundtrack album for the Danish Netflix original film A Beautiful Life. The album features the movie’s original score composed by Thomas Volmer Schulz (Toscana, Kollision, While We Live, Alpha). The soundtrack is now available to stream on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Parlophone Music has previously released a separate album featuring the original songs by Christopher (who also stars in the lead role) from the drama earlier this year. Premiering on Tuesday, October 24, is the documentary Milli Vanilli directed by Luke Korem about the titular superstar duo. The film’s original music is composed by Mondo Boys (She Dies Tomorrow, The Girlfriend Experience, Fatman, Phoenix Forgotten, Silk Road). The movie, which explores the duo’s ascension to success that came with a devastating price that ultimately led to their infamous undoing, premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and will make its streaming debut on Paramount+.
Premiering on Wednesday, October 25, is the Netflix original documentary series Life on Our Planet narrated by Morgan Freeman and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Alastair Fothergill, Keith Scholey, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank. Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Black Widow, His Dark Materials, Top Gun: Maverick, Black Adam) has composed the show’s original music. Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album featuring Balfe’s themes and suites, as well as eight albums featuring the composer’s score from each episode. Volker Bertelmann was named Film Composer of the Year at the 23rd World Soundtrack Awards, tonight’s closing event of the 50th Ghent Film Festival, for his scores for Edward Berger’s All Quiet of the Western Front (for which he also received the Academy Award earlier this year), the Norwegian World War II drama War Sailor and Saara Saarela’s sci-fi drama Memory of Water. Nicholas Britell was honored as TV Composer of the Year today for his score for the fourth and final season of the HBO original series Succession and his music for the first season of Disney+’s Star Wars series Andor.
