Ramin Djawadi has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming Red Dawn remake from Brian Tyler who was originally assigned to score the movie. In the movie directed by Dan Bradley, a group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of Chinese and Russian soldiers. The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Adrienne Palicki and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The MGM movie was originally scheduled to come out later this year, but according to recent reports, the movie has been put on an indefinite hold given the financial situation of the studio, but none of the reports have been confirmed. Gustavo Santaolalla is scoring the upcoming adventure drama On the Road. The film is directed by Walter Salles who previously worked together with the composer on The Motorcycle Diaries and 2008’s Linha de Passe. The movie stars Sam Riley, Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund. On the Road is based on the 1957 novel by Jack Kerouac and is produced by Francis Ford Coppola. A release date in 2011 is expected.

Film Music Reporter has learned that Mychael Danna recently finished scoring the upcoming romantic comedy Going The Distance. The movie directed by Nanette Burstein centers on a man and woman in a long-distance relationship who ultimately come to the realization that they would be happier dating someone closer to home. The movie stars Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, Christina Applegate, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis. Nanette Burstein previously collaborated with Mychael’s brother Jeff Danna on the documentary The Kid Stays in the Picture. Harry Gregson-Williams and David Buckley are currently finishing up work on the score for the crime thriller The Town. The movie is directed by Ben Affleck who is also starring in the movie alongside Rebecca Hall, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively, Jon Hamm and Jeff Cooper. In the movie, a longtime thief tries to balance his feelings for a bank manager connected to one of his earlier heists, as well as the FBI agent looking to bring him and his crew down. Theodore Shapiro has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Dinner for Schmucks. In the movie, a rising executive succeeds in finding the perfect guest, an IRS employee, for his boss’s monthly event, a so-called “dinner for idiots,” which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon. The movie stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd and is directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers series, Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers). Paramount Pictures will release the Dinner for Schmucks on July 23. Avatar – Soundtrack Deluxe Edition coming

Atlantic Records announced that an expanded release of James Horner’s score for Avatar will be released on April 20. The Avatar – Deluxe Edition will be a download-only release and include six bonus tracks of unreleased music in addition to the previous album tracks. Graeme Revell to take over Unthinkable

Film Music reporter has learned that Graeme Revell has replaced Christopher Young as the composer on the upcoming psychological thriller Unthinkable. The movie centers around a black-ops interrogator and an FBI agent who press a suspect terrorist into divulging the location of three nuclear weapons sets to detonate in the U.S. The movie is directed who collaborated with Young on his last movie The Informers. Unthinkable stars Samuel L. Jackson, Martin Sheen, Brandon Routh and Carrie-Anne Moss. Valentine’s Day score released

WaterTower Music recently released John Debney’s score for the Garry Marshall-directed romantic comedy Valentine’s Day.
