Two movies open wide this weekend:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is already breaking pre-sales records and is expected to beat the opening weekend grosses from the previous films in the series. Alexandre Desplat wrote the score for the movie as the fourth composer in the series. The Next Three Days soundtrack album announced

Lionsgate Records has announced a soundtrack album for the upcoming thriller The Next Three Days directed by Paul Haggis and starring Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks and Olivia Wilde. Danny Elfman wrote the score, which the composer also conducted during the recording sessions in London. Apart from 23 tracks from the score, the album also includes the two songs Mistake and Be The One by Moby. BREAKING NEWS! Danny Elfman to score The Next Three Days

Film Music Reporter has learned that Danny Elfman has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Next Three Days. The movie directed by Paul Haggis stars Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Olivia Wilde and Brian Dennehy. In the movie, an English teacher devises a daring plan and takes extreme actions to rescue his wife from jail where she has been wrongfully imprisoned for murder. The Next Three Days is based on the 2007 French movie Pour Elle which received a score by Klaus Badelt. The movie marks writer/director Haggis’ first collaboration with Danny Elfman. His regular composer collaborator Mark Isham (Crash, In The Valley of Elah) reportedly was originally slated to score the movie. Other reports indicated that Alberto Iglesias was hired to score the movie earlier this year, but Film Music Reporter hasn’t been able to confirm his involvement.
