The first teaser trailer for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming epic drama War Horse has surfaced online and while it hasn’t officially been confirmed yet, it undoubtedly sounds like that it features original music by John Williams. Check out the trailer after the jump. War Horse stars David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Emily Watson, Peter Mullan, Niels Arestrup, Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irvine and Toby Kebbell. The film follows a young man named Albert and his horse, Joey, and how their bond is broken when Joey is sold to the cavalry and sent to the trenches of World War One. Danny Elfman and T Bone Burnett to Team Up for ‘The Hunger Games’

Lionsgate (via The Hollywood Reporter) has confirmed today that Danny Elfman and T Bone Burnett are teaming up to score the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games. As previously reported, Elfman mentioned in an interview earlier this month that he has been in talks to score the film. Apart from collaborating on the score with Elfman, Burnett will also serve as the film’s Executive Music Producer, producing songs for the film and soundtrack. The movie based on the bestselling novel by Suzanne Collins is directed by Gary Ross (Pleasantville, Seabiscuit). Jennifer Lawrence stars a young woman selected to represent her district in a televised fight to the death. Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson are co-starring. Nina Jacobson (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, One Day) and Jon Kilik (Babel, Inside Man) are producing. The Hunger Games will be released on March 23, 2011.
Clinton Shorter to Score ‘Contraband’

Clinton Shorter has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Contraband. The movie is directed by Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur (The Sea, 101 Reykjavik) and stars Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster, Lukas Haas, Giovanni Ribisi, Diego Luna and J.K. Simmons. The film is a remake of the 2008 Icelandic film Reykjavic-Rotterdam, which was produced and co-written by Kormakur who also starred in the movie. The thriller centers on a security guard and former smuggler on the Iceland-Netherlands route who is tempted back into illicit business by a dubious friend after encountering financial problems. Michael Giacchino’s ‘Up’ Soundtrack released on CD

Intrada Records has announced the premiere CD release of the soundtrack for Pixar’s Oscar-winning animation Up. The film’s music is composed by Michael Giacchino who received his first Academy Award for his original score. The soundtrack was previously only released digitally by Walt Disney Records. Intrada’s new edition marks the first album in a new series of soundtracks on CD, co-branded with Walt Disney Records. To listen to audio clips and order the CD, visit Intrada’s online store. Up is directed by Pete Doctor and centers on an elderly widower (voiced by Ed Asner) and an earnest young wilderness explorer who fly to South America by floating in a house. Varese Sarabande has announced two new soundtrack releases for upcoming horror movies. First up is the soundtrack for the 3D horror sequel Final Destination 5. The album includes the film’s music composed by Brian Tyler who is scoring his second Final Destination movie. The soundtrack will be released on August 9, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full details on the release. Final Destination 5 is directed by Steven Quale and stars Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Tony Todd and David Koechner. The movie sees a new batch of victims, co-workers on a corporate retreat, escaping the collapse of a city’s suspension bridge. The film will be released on August 12 by Warner Bros. Lyle Workman is set to score the upcoming comedy Fun Size. The film marks the feature directorial debut of writer/producer Josh Schwartz who is best known as the creator and showrunner of the TV hit show The O.C., as well as the co-creator of Chuck and Gossip Girl. The movie centers on a teenager who loses her brother after being forced to take him out for trick-or-treating on Halloween. The comedy stars Victoria Justice (Nickelodeon’s Victorious), Chelsea Handler, Riki Lindhome, Johnny Knoxville, Josh Pence, Thomas Mann and Jane Levy. ‘Another Earth’ Soundtrack announced

Milan Records has announced a soundtrack release for the indie sci-fi drama Another Earth. The album includes the film’s original music written by Fall On Your Sword. The soundtrack will be released on July 19, 2011 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album below. Another Earth is directed by Mark Cahill and stars Brit Marling as an ambitious MIT astrophysics student who kills a man’s family in a car accident after leaning out of the window to catch sight of a newly discovered planet. After spending four years in prison, she returns home compelled to meet the bereaved husband and father. William Mapother and Jordan Bake are co-starring. Joseph Bishara is scoring the upcoming horror thriller 11-11-11. The movie is written and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III & IV). The film starring Michael Landes, Wendy Glenn and Timothy is inspired by the real-life organization that believes the recurrence of the numbers 11:11 are of spiritual significance and a link to spirit guardians. The story deals with 11 gates of Heaven and how the final gate will open for 49 minutes on November 11th, 2011. Bishara has previously collaborated with the director on the 2008 horror musical Repo! The Genetic Opera. The composer had his biggest box office success of his career to date earlier this year with the horror hit Insidious starring Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson. Earlier this week, a soundtrack album for the NBC sci-fi mystery drama The Event has been released. The album features 27 tracks of the original score from the show composed by Scott Starrett. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to sound clips from all tracks. The Event created by Nick Wauters stars Jason Ritter, Sarah Roemer, Laura Innes, Ian Anthony Dale, Scott Patterson, Clifton Collins Jr. and Blair Underwood. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Pixar’s animated film Cars 2 directed by John Lasseter is expected to top the weekend box office. The film’s music is composed by Michael Giacchino. A soundtrack album featuring five songs, as well as Giacchino’s score has been released by Walt Disney Records. Also opening wide is the comedy Bad Teacher directed by Jake Kasdan and starring Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel. The film’s score is written by Michael Andrews.
