Maurizio De Angelis has scored the upcoming TV mini-series Titanic: Blood and Steel. The 12-part series is directed by Ciaran Donnelly (The Tudors) and stars Chris Noth, Neve Campbell, Derek Jacobi, Kevin Zegers, Ophelia Lovibond, Billy Carter, Massimo Ghini, Branwell Donaghey and Martin McCann. The show focuses on the the process of building the ship from the ground up and the people who made the ship a reality against the class-bound backdrop of Edwardian Belfast, Northern Ireland, where financial pressures led to fatal compromises. Matthew Faulk & Mark Skeet (Vanity Fair) and Stefano Voltaggio have written the screenplay. Guido De Angelis is executive producing for De Angelis Group. The $30 million production is co-produced by LA’s 3 Arts, Italy’s RAI, UK’s Artists Studio, Germany’s Tandem Communication, Canada’s CBC, Ireland’s Epos Films and Spain’s Antena 3. Maurizio De Angelis is best known for co-scoring numerous Italian hit films starring Terence Hill and Bud Spencer from the 70s and 80s with his brother Guido who serves as the show’s executive producer. Titanic: Blood and Steel just premiered in Italy this past weekend and is scheduled to air in other European countries this spring. No domestic premiere date has been announced yet for the mini-series.

The series follows another mini-series about the Titanic, which premiered a couple of weeks ago on ABC in the US and which featured music by Jonathan Goldsmith.
