Only one new movie is opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi action film Oblivion directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough, Olga Kurylenko, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo. The film’s score is composed by Anthony Gonzalez of M83 and Joseph Trapanese (TRON: Uprising, The Raid: Redemption). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as an original end titles song by M83 featuring Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfor earlier this week. Opening in limited release is the horror film The Lords of Salem written and directed by Rob Zombie and starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Bruce Davidson, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, Maria Conchita Alonso, Judy Geeson and Meg Foster. The film’s original score is composed by John 5 & Griffin Boyce. Geffen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as songs from the film by artists including Manfred Mann, Leviathan The Fleeing Serpent, Rick James, Rush and The Velvet Underground. Sony Masterworks will release the official soundtrack album for M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming sci-fi action adventure After Earth. The album features the film’s original score composed by James Newton Howard who has written the music for all of the director’s score in the past 14 years, including The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs and The Village. The soundtrack will be released on June 4, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on
