in-a-worldA soundtrack album for Lake Bell’s indie comedy In a World has been announced. The album features the film’s original score by Ryan Miller (Safety Not Guaranteed, The Kings of Summer) who is best known as the lead singer and principal songwriter for the alt-rock band Guster. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. In a World is written and directed by Lake Bell who also stars in the film alongside  Demetri Martin, Michaela Watkins, Ken Marino, Rob Corddry, Fred Melamed, Nick Offerman, Alexandra Holden and Geena Davis. The comedy about a struggling female vocal coach who musters the courage to pursue her secret aspiration to be a voice-over star premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is currently playing in limited release. The album features the film’s original score composed by Abel Korzeniowski (A Single Man, W.E.). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 8, 2013 and physically later this year. The album features the film’s original score composed by Carl Thiel (Shorts, SpKids: All the Time in the World 4D, Grindhouse: Planet Terror) and director Robert Rodriguez. Also included is an original end title track by Tito & Tarantula (From Dusk Till Dawn) and two tracks by Chingon who scored the first Machete film. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

prisonersExpected to top the weekend box office is the dramatic thriller Prisoners directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Maria Bello, Terrance Howard, Viola Davis, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano. Jóhann Jóhannsson (Personal Effects, For Ellen) has composed the film’s score. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. battle-of-the-yearAlso opening wide is the dance drama Battle of the Year directed by Benson Lee and starring Josh Holloway, Laz Alonso, Josh Peck, Caity Lotz and Chris Brown. The film’s original score is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Revolution, Identity Thief). Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the film earlier this week. The album features a suite from the composer’s score, as well as the songs featured in the movie by such artists as The Roots, Chubb Rock, Kool Kojak, Speedometer, Digital Underground and PC’s Ltd. ‘Ender’s Game’ Soundtrack Details

The soundtrack features the film’s original music composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers trilogyBattleship, Gangster Squad). The soundtrack will be released on October 22, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Ender’s Game is directed by Gavin Hood and stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford. The movie based on the classic novel by Orson Scott Card follows a genius strategist who is recruited by the government to help destroy an insect-like alien race and will be released nationwide on November 1 by Summit Entertainment/Lionsgate. The album features the film’s original score composed by Henry Jackman (Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class). Captain Phillips is directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, United 93) and stars Tom Hanks in the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. varese-halloweenVarèse Sarabande Records will host a special Halloween Concert Gala as part of their worldwide 35th anniversary celebration on October 19, 2013 at the Warner Grand Theatre at 478 W 6th Street in San Pedro, CA. The concert will feature performances by composers including Marco Beltrami (Mimic, Hellboy, Scream), John Debney (Sin City, End of Days), Christopher Young (Ghost Rider, The Grudge, The Fly 2), Brian Tyler (Children of Dune, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem), and Nathan Barr (True Blood, Hostel), as well as several surprise guests. Additional composers that are set to attend the event include Randy Edelman (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor), Joseph LoDuca (The Evil Dead), Lee Holdridge (The Mists of Avalon) and Cliff Eidelman (Christopher Columbus: The Discovery).
