The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Angelo Pizzo (Rudy, Hoosiers, The Game of Their Lives) and stars Aaron Eckhart, Finn Wittrock, Robin Tunney and Sarah Bolger. The movie tells the true story of 1960s University of Texas football star Freddie Steinmark and his relationship with legendary Texas coach Darrell Royal. Steinmark was a player on the national-title-winning 1969 team, before his career was cut short when he went to the hospital for a bone bruise and learned that he had a cancerous tumor that took his leg. ‘Son of a Gun’ Soundtrack Details

sun-of-a-gunMilan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Australian crime thriller Son of a Gun. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jed Kurzel (The Snowtown Murders, The Babadook, Macbeth). The soundtrack is already available in Australia and will be released in several European territories later this month. The album will be released digitally in the U.S. on December 9, 2014 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. The show is created by Will Forte (NebraskaSaturday Night LiveMacGruber) who also stars in the series as the last man on earth in the year 2022, who searches the entire United States for any signs of other living humans after an unknown event wipes out the entire population of Earth. The pilot is directed by Chris Miller & Phil Lord who previously collaborated with Mothersbaugh on such features as Cloudy with a Chance of MeatballsThe Lego Movie and 21/22 Jump Street. inherent-viceNonesuch Records will release the official soundtrack album for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice. The album features the film’s original music composed by Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood who previously scored Anderson’s There Will Be Blood and The Master. Also included are the songs from the film by artists including Neil Young, Can, The Marketts, Minnie Riperton & more. The soundtrack will be released on December 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Inherent Vice is written and directed by Anderson and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro, Martin Short, Jena Malone and Joanna Newsom. The movie based on the novel by Thomas Pynchon is set in 1960s Los Angeles and follows the drug-fueled detective Larry “Doc” Sportello as he investigates the case of a kidnapped girl. dumb-and-dumber-toOpening in most theaters is the comedy sequel Dumb and Dumber To directed by Peter & Bobby Farrelly and starring Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Kathleen Turner, Laurie Holden, Rob Riggle, Rachel Melvin and Steve Tom. The film’s original music is composed by the electronic music duo Empire of the Sun. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring music from the duo, as well as songs by Eels, Natural Child, Lissie, Firefall, Franz Ferdinand, Jake Bugg, The Dahls and more. The film is directed by Andy Fickman (Race to Witch Mountain, She’s All That) and stars Kevin James, Molly Shannon, Nicholas Turturro and D.B. Woodside. The movie follows the title character as he must try to stop art thieves while attending a Security Guard Expo in Las Vegas. Todd Garner (Knight and Dayand Adam Sandler are producing the project. Stephen Oremus Named Oscar Music Director

stephen-oremusAcademy Awards producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today that Stephen Oremus was selected as music director for this season’s 87th Oscar ceremony. He will make his Oscar debut this year. Oremus has worked on such Broadway shows as Avenue QWicked, All Shook Up,  9 to 5, The Book of Mormon and Kinky Boots.  He earned two Tony Awards for Best Orchestration in 2011 and 2013. Oremus also served as the orchestra conductor and music director for Rufus Wainwright’s Carnegie Hall and London Palladium tributes to Judy Garland in 2006 and 2007. His feature film work includes arranging and producing New York, New York, sung by actress Carey Mulligan, for Steve McQueen’s 2011 drama Shame starring Michael Fassbender.  Read the rest of this entry »

The show is created by Academy Award-nominated writer Randall Wallace (Braveheart, We Were Soldiers, The Man in the Iron Mask) & Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and stars Nathan Parsons, Christopher O’Shea, Annabelle Stephenson, Riley Voelkel, Hanna Mangan Lawrence, Patrick Heusinger, Luke Benward, Adrienne Warren, Lucien Laviscount and James Harvey Ward. The historical drama centers on a Virginia family who at the outset of the Civil War makes the controversial decision to defend the South while freeing all of their slaves.
