Premiering on Wednesday, July 9, is the new CBS drama Extant created by Mickey Fisher and starring Halle Berry, Goran Visnjic, Pierce Gagnon, Hiroyuki Sanada, Camryn Manheim, Grace Gummer and Michael O’Neill. The show’s original music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Enough Said, Ry Donovan, The Big C, Remember Me). Dave Porter to Score Starz’s ‘Flesh and Bone’

Dave Porter has signed on to score the upcoming Starz original series Flesh and Bone. The show is created by Moira Walley-Beckett and stars Sarah Hay, Irina Dvorovenko, Sascha Radetsky, Raychel Diane Weiner, Emily Tyra and Damon Herriman. The series follows a young ballet dancer with a distinctly troubled past, as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York. Walley-Beckett is also executive producing the project with Lawrence Bender (Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds, Good Will Hunting), Kevin Brown (Roswell) and John Melfi (House of Cards, Sex and the City). Three new movies opened nationwide this past Wednesday:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy Tammy directed by Ben Falcone and starring Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Allison Janney, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass, Dan Aykroyd, Kathy Bates, Toni Collette and Nat Faxon. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bridesmaids, The Heat). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as two songs by Possum Creek earlier this week. Also opening wide is the family sci-fi adventure Earth to Echo directed by Dave Green and starring Teo Halm, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Reese Hartwig and Ella Linnea Wahlested. Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, The Raid, Tron: Uprising) has composed the film’s original music. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score, as well as the song Worlds Away performed by Dia Frampton. ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Soundtrack Preview

The soundtrack album for Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has been published on Spotify. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Giacchino (Star Trek, Up, Lost, Ratatouille, The Incredibles). Listen to the full album after the jump. ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ Score Album Released

Paramount Pictures has released a score album for Michael Bay’s sci-fi action sequel Transformers: Age of Extinction. The album features the film’s original music composed by Steve Jablonsky (Pain & Gain, The Island, Ender’s Game) who also scored the previous three Transformers movies. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. A soundtrack EP featuring four tracks of the composer’s music was previously released earlier this week. Transformers: Age of Extinction stars Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Sophia Myles, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Bingbing Li, Titus Welliver and TJ Miller. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers has published a number of video clips from the organization’s ASCAP Film & Television Music Awards gala, which was held last week at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Check out the acceptance speeches of the two honorees of the Composers’ Choice Award for Best ASCAP TV Composer of 2013, Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Dave Porter (Breaking Bad, The Blacklist), after the jump. ‘America’ Soundtrack Released

Sensory Overload Music has released a soundtrack album for the documentary America. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bryan E. Miller. Also included is Madison Rising’s rendition of Star Spangled Banner. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. America is directed by Dinesh D’Souza & John Sullivan (2016: Obama’s America) and tells the story of the heroes who built America: Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and others. Academy Award-winner Gerald R. Molen (Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park, Minority Report) is producing the project. The movie has been released nationwide this past Wednesday by Lionsgate. Details have been announced for the concert Hans Zimmer Revealed, which will take place on October 10 & 11, 2014 at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo in London. The Academy Award-winning composer will be accompanied by a band of players mixing traditional orchestral instruments with rock and electronica, and will be joined by a few surprise special guests. The concert will be in two parts: the first featuring of Zimmer’s classic movie scores, such as The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean and Gladiator; and the second featuring re-imagined versions of such titles as Inception and The Dark Knight with special guests from the rock and pop world. ‘United Passions’ Soundtrack Released

Music Box Records has released a soundtrack album for the drama United Passions. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jean-Pascal Beintus who has served as an orchestrator for composer Alexandre Desplat over the past decade. The soundtrack is now available digitally on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. United Passions stars Gérard Depardieu as Jules Rimet, the man who created the World Cup and served as FIFA president from 1921 to 1954. Tim Roth plays Sepp Blatter and Sam Neill as João Havelange, the body’s seventh president. Also starring is Thomas Kretschmann as Adidas founder Horst Dassler, as well as Fisher Stevens as Carl Hirschmann.
