Rachel Portman is scoring the upcoming spy thriller Despite the Falling Snow. The film is written and directed by Shamim Sarif (I Can’t Think Straight, The World Unseen) and stars Rebecca Ferguson, Charles Dance, Sam Reid, Maria Furtwangler, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Anthony Head and Trudie Styler. The movie based on Sarif’s own novel of the same title is set in Cold War Moscow and follows a female spy who steals secrets from an idealistic politician – and falls in love with him. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for David Michod’s dramatic thriller The Rover. The album features the film’s original music composed and arranged by Antony Partos (99 Homes, Adore, Disgrace) who previously scored the director’s last feature Animal Kingdom. Also included is additional music composed and performed by Tom Petty, as well as tracks by Tortoise, Colin Stetson, Matthias Loibner and William Basinski. Paul Leonard-Morgan announced on Twitter that he is scoring the upcoming Lifetime original movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever. The film is directed by Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks, Hop, SpongeBob SquarePants) and stars Aubrey Plaza as the voice of Grumpy Cat. The live action movie follows a pet-store cat that is perpetually overlooked and the 12-year-old girl (played by Megan Charpentier) who can communicate with her cat. Grumpy Cat (aka Tardar Sauce) is an internet celebrity and has already spawned a book, a coffee product and more. Hill also wrote the film’s teleplay with Jeff Morris and Arturo Interian is executive producing the project. Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever is set to premiere on November 29, 2014 on Lifetime. La-La Land Records has announced a 2-CD set featuring the original scores for the action comedies 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. The albums features the original music from the hit films composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Royal Tenenbaums, Hotel Transylvania). The soundtrack is limited to 2000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips.
