Marcelo Zarvos is reteaming with Barry Levinson on the upcoming comedy Rock the Kasbah. The film stars Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Danny McBride, Scott Caan and Zooey Deschanel. The movie follows a has-been rock manager who takes his last remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan, where he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice and manages her through Afghanistan’s version of American Idol, the wildly popular Afghan Star. Mitch Glazer (Scrooged, The Recruit, Magic City) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with QED’s Bill Block (Fury, Elysium, W.), Venture Forth’s Jacob Pechenik (The Skeleton Twins and Shangri-La Entertainment’s Steve Bing. Elliot Goldenthal Presented with Kilar Award at Krakow Film Music Festival

Last night, Elliot Goldenthal was presented with the first ever Wojciech Kilar Award during the sold out Polish Music Gala: Scoring4Wajda concert in the ICE Krakow Congress Center at the Krakow Film Music Festival in Krakow, Poland. The Academy Award-winning composer’s longtime companion and entertainer, director Julie Taymor (Frida, Titus, Across the Universe, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) was also in attendance a the event. The Wojciech Kilar Award aims to raise the profile of the late Polish pianist/composer who is known for such scores as The Pianist and Bram Stoker’s Dracula and honors composers whose film work has a vigorous life beyond the screen. Mario Grigorov has signed on to score the upcoming action adventure Tarzan. The film is directed by David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and stars Alexander Skarsgård in the title role, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, Djimon Hounsou, John Hurt and Christoph Waltz. The movie based on the classic story and characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs takes place years after Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke and is invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge. ‘Inside Out’ Soundtrack Details

The full details of the soundtrack album for Pixar Animation’s Inside Out have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Michael Giacchino (Lost, Star Trek, Tomorrowland, Jurassic World) who previously scored the studios’ features The Incredibles, Up, Ratatouille and Cars 2. The soundtrack will be released on June 16, 2015 by Walt Disney Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Howard Shore to Score Disney’s ‘Pete’s Dragon’

Howard Shore is set to score Disney’s upcoming remake of Pete’s Dragon. The film is directed by David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) and stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The movie is based on the 1977 classic and tells the story of the special bond between an orphaned boy, Pete, and his best friend, Elliott, who just happens to be a dragon. Lowery also co-wrote the screenplay with Toby Halbrooks. Jim Whitaker (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Finest Hours) is producing the project and Barrie Osborne (The Lord of the Rings, Face/Off) serves as an executive producer. Dustin O’Halloran’s ‘Transparent’ Theme Released

(Updated on June 2, 2015): Amazon Content Services has released the main titles theme for the Golden Globe-winning Amazon Studios original series Transparent. The theme is composed by Dustin O’Halloran (Like Crazy, Breathe In, Now Is Good). The release features the composer’s theme as featured in the show’s main titles sequence, as well as a longer solo piano version. Visit Amazon to download the EP featuring the two tracks. A full soundtrack album featuring songs from the first season of the comedy drama, as well as two tracks from O’Halloran’s score has been released earlier last December. Transparent created by Jill Soloway and starring Gaby Hoffmann, Jay Duplass, Amy Landecker, Judith Light and Jeffrey Tambor is now available to stream on Amazon and a second season will premiere later this year.
