Howard Shore has signed on to score the upcoming historical drama The Free State of Jones. The film is written and directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit, Pleasantville) and stars Matthew McConaughey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keri Russell and Mahershala Ali. The movie is set during the Civil War and tells the story of a defiant Southern farmer and his extraordinary armed rebellion against the Confederacy. Fox Music will release a score album for the film adaptation of John Green’s novel Paper Towns. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ryan Lott aka Son Lux (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby) who recorded his score with a 36-piece string orchestra at Capitol Records.
