Vincent Jones and Dave Kushner have been hired to score the upcoming animated comedy F Is for Family. The show is created by stand-up comedian Bill Burr & Michael Price (The Simpsons) and features the voices of Burr himself, Laura Dern, Justin Long and Haley Reinhart. The series is based on Burr’s own childhood and follows a lower middle class family in the 1970s. Burr and Price are also executive producing the Gaumont International Television and Wild West Television production with Vince Vaughn & Peter Billingsley (Couples Retreat, Dinner for Five). Rachel Portman has been tapped to score the upcoming biographical sports drama Race. The film is directed by Stephen Hopkins (The Ghost and the Darkness, Predator 2, Lost in Space, Blown Away) and stars Stephan James, Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, William Hurt and Carice van Houten. The movie tells the true story of Jesse Owens, the legendary sports superstar whose quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics. Silva Screen Records has announced a compilation album: Film Festival Gent and Brussels Philharmonic Present Alan Silvestri. The album features suites from several scores written by the Academy Award-nominated composer performed by the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Dirk Brosse. Titles included on the album are Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Cast Away, The Polar Express, The Mummy Express & more. The soundtrack marks the second in the series, which is supported by Ghent’s World Soundtrack Awards, where Silvestri will be honored this year. Charlie Clouser revealed on Twitter that he is composing the score for the upcoming Syfy original mini-series Childhood’s End. The show is based on the sci-fi novel by Arthur C. Clarke (2001: A Space Odyssey) of the same title and stars Charles Dance, Mike Vogel, Daisy Betts, Yael Stone, Julian McMahon, Osy Ikhile and Colm Meaney. The 6-parter centers on a peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious Overlords, whose arrival ends all war and turns the planet into a near-utopia. Matthew Graham (Life on Mars) has developed the series and is executive producing the Universal Cable production with Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend, I, Robot) and Michael De Luca (Moneyball, Captain Phillips). Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Unnatural. The album features the film’s original music composed by Edwin Wendler (I Spit on Your Grave: Vengeance Is Mine, Tales of Halloween).
