Patrick Doyle is set to compose the music for the upcoming comedy Whisky Galore. The film is directed by Gillies MacKinnon (A Simple Twist of Faith, Hideous Kinky, Behind the Lines) and stars Eddie Izzard, Gregor Fisher, John Sessions, Fenella Woolgar, Tim Piggott-Smith and Sean Biggerstaff. The movie is based on the novel by Compton MacKenzie and the 1949 film of the same title and centers around thereal-life 1941 shipwreck of the S.S. Premiering tomorrow, November 30, is the new NBC comedy Superstore created by Justin Spitzer and starring America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Mark McKinney, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nichole Bloom and Nico Santos. The show’s original music is composed by Mateo Messina (Juno, Casual, Butter, Truth Be Told, Growing Up Fisher). Superstore revolves around a unique family of employees at a super-sized mega store. Armand Amar is reteaming with director Radu Mihaileanu on the upcoming drama The History of Love. The film marks the director’s English-language debut and stars Derek Jacobi, Sophie Nelisse, Gemma Arterton and Elliott Gould. The movie is based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Nicole Krauss and centers around a long-lost book that mysteriously reappears and connects an old man searching for his son with a girl seeking a cure for her mother’s loneliness. Rectangle Productions has released a soundtrack album for the French romantic drama Marguerite & Julien. The album features the film’s original music composed by French electronic music producer/DJ Yuksek aka Pierre-Alexandre Busson. Also included are the songs Oh My Love by The Artwoods and Past, Present and Future by The Shangri-Las. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Marguerite & Julien is directed by Valerie Donzelli and stars Anais Demoustier, Jeremie Elkaim, Frederic Pierrot, Aurelia Petit, Raoul Fernandez and Catherine Mouchet. Three new movies opened nationwide this past Wednesday:
Playing in most theaters is the animated feature The Good Dinosaur directed by Peter Sohn and featuring the voices of Raymond Ochoa, Jack Bright, Frances McDormand, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Elliott, Anna Paquin, Marcus Scribner, A.J. Buckley and Steve Zahn. The film’s original music is composed by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Capote) and Jeff Danna (The Boondock Saints, Silent Hill). Expanded ‘Braveheart’ Soundtrack Announced

La-La Land Records has announced a new expanded and remastered soundtrack release for Mel Gibson’s Academy Award-winning 1995 drama Braveheart starring Gibson himself, as well as Sophie Marceau, Patrick McGoohan, Catherine McCormack and Angus Macfadyen. The album coincides with the 20th Anniversary of the movie and features the film’s original music composed and conducted by James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) who received an Oscar nomination for his score. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 3000 copies, features previously unreleased music, as well as source music tracks and additional alternate cues.
