Alexandre Desplat has composed the music for the upcoming drama Alone in Berlin. The film is directed by Vincent Perez and stars Brendan Gleeson, Emma Thompson, Daniel Brühl and Mikael Persbrandt. The movie is based on Hans Fallada’s bestselling novel and follows an ordinary couple living in a shabby apartment block in Berlin during World War II. When their child is killed fighting at the front, their loss propels them into an extraordinary act of resistance. Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album for Atom Egoyan’s 2013 thriller Devil’s Knot. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, The Good Dinosaur, Moneyball, Capote, The Ice Storm). Winter & Winter will release a soundtrack album for Werner Herzog’s upcoming thriller Salt and Fire. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ernst Reijseger who previously collaborated with the filmmaker on such titles as Cave of the Forgotten Dreams, The White Diamond, The White Blue Yonder and My Son, My Son, What Have You Done. Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Snowtime!. The album features the original songs from the movie performed by Celine Dion, Simple Plan, Marie-Mai, Groenland and Walk Off The Earth. Also included is the movie’s original score composed by Eloi Painchaid and Jorane. The soundtrack will be released on February 19, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Snowtime is directed by Jean-Francois Pouliot & Francois Brisson and features the voices of Angela Gallupo, Lucinda Davis, Sonja Ball, Don Shepherd, Jenna Wheeler, Heidi Lynne Weeks, Elisabeth MacRae, Holly Gauthier, Ross Lynch and Sandra Oh. Nick Urata is reteaming with director Stephen Gyllenhaal on the upcoming drama So B. It. The film starring Alfre Woodard, Talitha Bateman, John Heard, Cloris Leachman, Jacinda Barrett, Dash Mihok and Jessica Collins is based on the young adult novel of the same title by Sarah Weeks and follows a 12-year-old girl who decides to take a solo cross-country trip and leave the safety of her home life with her mentally challenged mother and agoraphobic neighbor. Orien Richman is producing the Outside The Box and Branded Pictures Entertainment production with J. Todd Harris (The Kids Are All Right, Bottle Shock).

Headquarters Music will release a soundtrack album for the horror anthology Southbound. The album features the film’s original music written by the composer duo of The Gifted. Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature Kung Fu Panda 3 directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson & Alessandro Carloni and featuring the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, Bryan Cranston, Kate Hudson, David Cross and J.K. Simmons. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Inception, The Dark Knight) who previously co-scored the first two parts in the series with John Powell. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by The Vamps and Patrick Brasca feat. Jay Chou. Also opening wide is the disaster drama The Finest Hours directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, John Ortiz and Eric Bana. Carter Burwell (Twilight, Fargo, Carol, True Grit) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the end titles song Haul Away Joe performed by Kodaline. Matthew Margeson and Mike Higham are currently scoring the upcoming fantasy adventure Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. The score will be recorded in London within the next few weeks. The movie stars Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is based on the Ransom Riggs novel and follows a teenager who finds himself transported to an island where he must help protect a group of orphans with special powers from creatures out to destroy them. ‘Galavant’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Released

Hollywood Records has released a new soundtrack album for the ABC musical comedy Galavant. The album features the original songs from the show’s second season written by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted, Tangled) featuring lyrics by Glenn Slater and performed by the series’ cast, including guest stars Kylie Minogue, Weird Al Yankovic, Eddie Marsan, Reece Shearsmith & more. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the songs from the first season. Galavant is created by Dan Fogelman and stars Joshua Sasse, Mallory Jansen, Karen David, Timothy Omundson, Vinnie Jones and Luke Youngblood.
