The Scottish post-rock band Mogwai is scoring the upcoming sci-fi thriller Kin. The film is directed by Jonathan & Josh Baker and stars Jack Reynor, James Franco, Zoe Kravitz, Carrie Coon and Dennis Quaid. The movie revolves around a man recently released from jail who is forced to go on the run with his  adopted younger brother, protected by an ancient weapon they’ve found. Daniel Casey wrote the screenplay based on the Baker brothers’ short Bag Man. Shawn Levy & Dan Cohen (Arrival, Stranger Things) are producing the project for 21 Laps Entertainment, alongside Jeff Arkuss, David Gross (Room, Goon) and Jesse Shapira for No Trace Camping. Mogwai’s previous scoring credits include the French series he Returned, as well as last year’s documentary Before the Flood. Kin will be distributed in the U.S. by Lionsgate. No release date has been announced yet.
