‘The Durrells’ Theme Song Released

the-durrellsABKCO Records has released the original theme song for the ITV original series The Durrells. The track is written by Ruth Barrett (Harry BrownToastHuntedCritical). The theme is now available to download as a single on Amazon. The Durrells is created by Simon Nye and stars Keeley Hawes, Josh O’Connor, Callum Woodhouse, Daisy Waterstone and Milo Parker. The drama based on Gerald Durrell’s trilogy of memoirs tell the story of Louisa Durrell who makes a radical change and uproots her four unruly children from Bournemouth, England to start a new life in Corfu in the 1930s. doctor-strangeMichael Giacchino announced on Twitter that he will be scoring Marvel’s Doctor Strange. The film is directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role, alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton. The movie based on the Marvel Comics character follows surgeon Stephen Strange who encounters the Ancient One after a career-ending car accident. Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, The Darkest Hour and C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) have written the screenplay. Kevin Feige (The Avengers, Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) is producing the project for Marvel Studios. Read the rest of this entry »

Lonely IslandMatthew Compton has composed the original score for the upcoming comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. The film is directed by Akiva Schaffer & Jorma Taccone who also star in the film alongside Andy Samberg, Imogen Poots, Sarah Silverman, Tim Meadows, Maya Rudolph and Joan Cusack. The movie follows singer/rapper Conner4Real who faces a crisis of popularity after his sophomore album flops and his celebrity high life begins to collapse. Samberg, Schaffer & Taccone (collectively known as The Lonely Island) have also written the screenplay and are producing the project with Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Trainwreck, Knocked Up) and Rodney Rothman (Get Him to the Greek). The album features the film’s original music composed by Marcelo Zarvos (The AffairThe Good ShepherdEnough SaidRay Donovan) who recorded his score with the London Metropolitan Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. The soundtrack will be released on May 13, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Our Kind of Traitor is directed by Susanna White and stars Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris, Stellan Skarsgård and Damian Lewis. The movie is based on the novel by John le Carre (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and follows a couple who get embroiled with a Russian oligarch and high-profile money launderer while on holiday in Marrakech. imageJohn Williams is set to compose the music for the upcoming animated short Dear Basketball. The film is directed by Glen Keane who worked as an animator on such Disney classics as Beauty and the BeastAladdin, The Little Mermaid and Tangled. Retired NBA star Kobe Bryant is narrating the film, which is being described as an animated ode to basketball. surfs-up-2Toby Chu has been hired to score the upcoming animated feature Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania. The film is directed by Henry Yu (story artist on Sym-Bionic Titan and Hotel Transylvania) and features the voices of WWE stars John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, WWE Diva Paige and Mr. McMahon. The sequel to the 2007 film follows Cody Maverick as he convinces an infamous big wave riding crew known as The Hang 5 to let him join them on their journey to a mysterious surf spot known as The Trenches, where legend has it, they’ll find the biggest waves in the world. sakamotoRyuichi Sakamoto has been chosen as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s World Soundtrack Awards at the Film Fest Gent, following the festival’s spotlight on Japanese cinema. A selection of his work will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé. Sakamoto’s best known film scoring credits include The Last Emperor, for which he received the Academy Award, Brian De Palma’s Snake Eyes and Femme Fatale, Little Buddha, The Sheltering Sky and Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence.
