Walt Disney Records will release the original music for Pixar’s animated short Piper. The film’s score is composed by Adrian Belew who is best known as the guitarist and vocalist of the progressive rock band King Crimson. Jake Monaco (Let’s Be Cops, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie) has arranged and orchestrated the music. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow and will be available to download on Amazon. Piper is directed by Alan Barillaro and follows a beach-dwelling bird who encounters a small hermit crab who teaches her the way of the waves. The short is currently playing in theaters nationwide in front of Pixar’s Finding Dory.

Ilan Eshkeri is composing the music for the upcoming period drama The Kaiser’s Last Kiss. The film is directed by David Leveaux and stars Lily James, Jai Courtney, Christopher Plummer, Janet McTeer, Eddie Marsan and Ben Daniels. The movie follows a German soldier who tries to determine if the Dutch resistance has planted a spy to infiltrate the home of Kaiser Wilhelm in Holland during the onset of World War II, but falls for a young Jewish Dutch woman during his investigation. The album features the film’s original music composed by Grammy Award nominee Ryan Shore (Prime, The Shrine, Numb, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, Harvard Man, Penn Zero: Part Time Hero) who previously also scored Scooby-Doo! Smokey Robinson to Serve as Executive Music Producer on Motown-Themed Netflix Series

Netflix has announced today that singer/songwriter Smokey Robinson will serve as the executive music producer on an upcoming, currently untitled Netflix animated series. The show created by Josh Wakely (Beat Bugs) is set in the imaginary city of Motown, based on Detroit and its rich musical heritage, and revolves around a lovable, funny and slightly shy eight year old boy who discovers he has the extraordinary ability to bring street-art to life. The series will feature contemporary artists performing hit songs from the Motown catalog by artists including Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, Lionel Richie, The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder & more. Drawing Number One has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Gleason. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Digging for Fire) and Saul Simon MacWilliams (Jim: The James Foley Story). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Gleason directed by Clay Tweel (Finders Keepers) goes inside the life of Steve Gleason, the former New Orleans Saints defensive back who, at the age of 34, was diagnosed with ALS and given a life expectancy of two to five years. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on Friday, July 2, by Open Road Films before premiering on Amazon later this year. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob Simonsen (Foxcatcher, (500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now, The Way Way Back). The full details of the soundtrack album for the indie drama Indignation have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Jay Wadley, as well as the original song Is It Love performed by Jane Monheit and written by Wadley & director James Schamus (who was Academy Award-nominated for co-writing a song from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). The soundtrack will be released this Friday, July 29 by Nettwerk and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Indignation is written and directed by Schamus and stars Logan Lerman, Sarah Gadon, Tracy Letts, Linda Emond, Danny Burstein and Ben Rosenfield. The movie is based on Philip Roth’s novel of the same title and follows a young Jewish man who escapes his sheltered family life in New Jersey and his job in his father’s butcher shop to attend a small conservative Ohio college in 1951 on a scholarship. Deutsche Grammophon will release the official soundtrack for Oliver Stone’s drama Snowden. The album features the film’s original music composed by Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, World Trade Center, The Incredible Hulk) and Adam Peters (Savages), as well as a remix by electronic music producer DJ Boys Noiz. Rachel Portman is reteaming with director Lasse Hallstrom on the upcoming drama A Dog’s Purpose. The film starring Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, Peggy Lipton, K.J. Apa, Juliet Rylance, Luke Kirby, John Ortiz and Pooch Hal is based on the bestselling 2010 novel of the same title by W. Bruce Cameron and centers on one devoted dog (voiced by Bradley Cooper) who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he loves by teaching them to laugh and love. Cameron and his wife Cathryn Michon have written the screenplay. Gavin Polone (Gilmore Girls, Panic Room, 8MM, Secret Window) is producing the Amblin Entertainment & Walden Media production. No Small Children’s ‘Ghostbusters’ Theme Song Cover Released

RCA Records has released the cover version of Ray Parker Jr.’s Ghostbusters theme song by No Small Children from Paul Feig’s reboot of the franchise. The track, which is featured in the movie’s end credits, is now available to download on Amazon. No Small Children is a LA-based punk rock band made up of three elementary school teachers – Lisa Pimentel, Nicola Belinsky and Joanie Pimentel. Check out the music video of the cover after the jump. The label has previously released a soundtrack album featuring the other songs from the film, including more cover versions of Parker Jr.’s theme song.
