Five new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

unforgettableOpening in most theaters is the thriller Unforgettable directed by Denise Di Novi and starring Katherine Heigl, Rosario Dawson, Geoff Stults, Cheryl Ladd, Whitney Cummings and Isabella Rice. The film’s original music is composed by Toby Chu (Covert Affairs, Burn Notice, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, State of Affairs, Beyond). No soundtrack album has been announced. the-promiseAlso opening wide is the historical drama The Promise directed by Terry George and starring Oscar Isaac, Christian Bale, Charlotte Le Bon, Angela Sarafyan, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Daniel Gimenez Cacho, James Cromwell and Jean Reno. Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain, 1408) has composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as an original song by Chris Cornell. Soundtrack for Showtime’s ‘Guerrilla’ to Be Released

guerrillaSilva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the Showtime mini-series Guerrilla. The album features the original score from the show composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Taboo, Waltz with Bashir, Disconnect, Miss Sloane). Also included are the songs from the drama by Noir, Femi Kuti, Osibisa, Judy Mowatt, Curtis Mayfield, The Pioneers & more. The soundtrack will be released on May 12, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Guerrilla is created John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) and stars Idris Elba, Frieda Pinto and Babou Ceesay. The 6-parter tells the story of a politically active couple whose relationship and values are tested when they liberate a political prisoner and form a radical underground cell in 1970s London. Tyler Bates to Score Marvel’s Netflix Series ‘The Punisher’

the-punisherTyler Bates has been hired to score Marvel’s upcoming Netflix original series The Punisher. The show is developed by Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) based on the Marvel Comic character and stars Jon Bernthal in the title role, alongside Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, Deborah Ann Woll, Daniel Webber, Jason R. Moore, Paul Schulze and Jaime Ray Newman. The series revolves around Frank Castle, who after the murder of his family, is both haunted and hunted and becomes known as The Punisher in the criminal underworld. Read the rest of this entry »

The album features the film’s original music composed by Bryony Marks (Felony, Please Like Me, A Month of Sundays). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Berlin Syndrome is directed by Cate Shortland (Lore, Somersault) and stars Teresa Palmer and Max Riemelt. The movie is based on Melanie Joosten’s 2011 novel and centers on a passionate holiday romance that leads to an obsessive relationship, when an Australian photojournalist wakes one morning in a Berlin apartment and is unable to leave. Joe Kraemer to Score ‘Iron Fisting’

joe-kraemerJoe Kraemer announced on Twitter that he will be scoring the upcoming TV series Iron Fisting. The show is created by Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka and follows the exploits of two mismatched buddy cops as they seek to protect Communism and comrades from the evils of Capitalism. The comedy, which is described as “being done as a fake Romanian cop show from the 1980s”, is produced by A24 and Channing Tatum’s Free Association. Gatewood and Tanaka (The Sitter) are also executive producing the project, alongside Rhys Thomas (Staten Island Summer).  Read the rest of this entry »

The album features the film’s original score composed by Peter Allen (American Mary, The Art of War II: Betrayal, Blond and Blonder). Also included are three songs by Atomic Tom. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Bigger Fatter Liar is directed by Ron Oliver and stars Ricky Garcia, Jodelle Ferland, Fiona Vroom, Kevin O’Grady, Karen Holness and Barry Bostwick. The movie revolves around a teenage habitual liar who leaves suburbia to prove a sleazy executive stole his idea for a video game. jonsiSigur Rós frontman Jónsi has contributed a new song for James Ponsoldt’s thriller The Circle. The track is a new recording of the classic song Simple Gifts by Shaker. Listen to the song after the jump (via Pitchfork). STX Recordings and Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album featuring the track, as well as Danny Elfman‘s original score from the movie on April 28. guardiansMarvel Music will release a score album for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead) who previously scored the first installment in the series. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 21, 2017 and will be available to download on Amazon. As previously reported, a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the film, including an original track co-written by Bates, will be released on the same day. The album features the film’s original music composed by Barnaby Taylor (Wild China, Shank, A State of Mind), as well as the original song Everything Everything by American Authors, which is already available as a digital single.
