Dwayne Wayans is the composer of the new NBC comedy Marlon. The show is created by Christopher Moynihan & Marlon Wayans who also stars in the series with Essence Atkins, Notlim Taylor, Amir O’Neil, Bresha Webb and Diallo Riddle. The comedy is inspired by the real life of Marlon Wayans and centers on a loving (but immature) father committed to co-parenting his two kids with his very-together ex-wife. Moynihan and Wayans are also executive producing the Universal Television production with Rick Alvarez (Fifty Shades of Black, White Chicks), Michael Rotenberg (Silicon Valley, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), as well as Andy Ackerman (The New Adventures of Old Christine) who also directed the pilot episode. The film is directed by John Maggio and centers on the legendary Washington Post executive editor who became a national figure during the presidency of Richard Nixon, when he challenged the federal government over the right to publish the Pentagon Papers. ‘Kidnap’ Soundtrack Released

Filmtrax has released a soundtrack album for the action thriller Kidnap. The album features the film’s original music composed by Federico Jusid (The Secret in Their Eyes, Misconduct, Black Butterfly, The Hunter’s Prayer). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Kidnap is directed by Luis Prieto, produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura & Erik Howsam and stars Halle Berry as a mother who will stop at nothing to rescue her kidnapped son. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the horror movie Annabelle: Creation directed by David Sandberg and starring Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Anne Coulthard, Grace Fulton, Lou Lou Safran, Samara Lee, Tayler Buck, Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda Otto. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (Hidden Figures, Lights Out, It, A Cure for Wellness, Bitter Harvest). Watertower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Check out our previous news article for the full album details.
Also opening wide is the animated feature The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature directed by Cal Brunker and featuring the voices of Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl, Maya Rudolph, Bobby Moynihan, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Bobby Cannavale, Isabel Moner, Sebastian Maniscalo and Jackie Chan. Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, he Angry Bird Movie, he Smurfs) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release. Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the AMC original series Halt and Catch Fire. The album features a selection of songs from the show, including the main title theme by Trentemøller, as well as tracks by Violent Femmes, The Clash, Peter Gabriel, Pixies, David Bowie, talking heads, Ex Hex & more. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 18, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the show’s original score by Paul Haslinger. Mychael Danna has signed on to score the upcoming biographical drama The Man Who Invented Christmas. The film is directed by Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) and stars Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens, Christopher Plummer as Scrooge and Jonathan Pryce as Dicken’s father. The movie is based on Les Standiford’s book and recounts how Charles Dickens created his iconic A Christmas Carol. Susan Coyne (Mozart in the Jungle) wrote the screenplay.
