20th Century Fox TV Records has released Aimee Mann‘s cover of The Cars’ hit song Drive from FX’s limited series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. The track, which was featured in the last episode of the show, is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story is developed by Tom Rob Smith and executive produced by Ryan Murphy and stars Darren Criss, Edgar Ramírez, Penelope Cruz and Ricky Martin. The drama is based on Maureen Orth’s book Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History and explores the murder of designer Gianni Versace by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Jóhann Jóhannsson passed away in Berlin this past Friday at age 48. The cause of death is unknown. The composer won the Golden Globe and received Oscar, BAFTA and Grammy nominations for his score for James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything. The following year, he won received an Oscar and BAFTA nomination for his music for Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario and also saw the release of Villeneuve’s Arrival, for which he received Golden Globe, BAFTA and Grammy nominations. Rob Simonsen has recently composed the music for the upcoming supernatural drama Fast Color. The film is directed by Julia Hart and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lorraine Toussaint, Saniyya Sidney, Christopher Denham and David Strathairn. The movie revolves around a woman who is forced to go on the run when her extraordinary abilities are discovered. Hart also co-wrote the screenplay with Jordan Horowitz (La La Land, The Kids Are All Right) who is producing the project with Mickey Liddell (Jackie, The Grey, Go) and Pete Shilaimon (Megan Leavey, Risen). He returns for his fifth Oscar telecast, his third as music director following the ceremonies in 2016 & 2017. Wheeler is best known as an orchestrator, composer, conductor, arranger and record producer and has received numerous Emmy and Tony Award nominations. The 8th Guild of Music Supervisors Awards were handed out on Thursday night at Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Julianne Jordan and Julia Michels received the top honor in the Best Music Supervision in Motion Picture – Motion Picture Over 25M for their work on Universal Pictures’ Pitch Perfect 3. Brian Ross and Michael Hill received the award in the Motion Picture Under 25M category for their music supervision on Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird. Howard Paar was honored in the Motion Picture Under 10M category for his music supervision on Ry Russo-Young’s Before I Fall and Robin Urdang took home the prize in the Motion Picture Under 5M category for her work on Call Me By Your Name.
