Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action comedy Men in Black: International directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Larry Bourgeois, Rafe Spall, Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland) & Chris Bacon (Source Code, Gnomeo & Juliet). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Click here for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the Shaft sequel directed by Tim Story and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Jesse T. Usher, Regina Hall, Alexandra Shipp, Matt Lauria, Titus Welliver, Cliff “Method Man” Smith and Richard Roundtree. Christopher Lennertz (Lost in Space, Horrible Bosses, Agent Carter, Ride Along) has composed the film’s original score. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie (including the original track Too Much Shaft performed by Quavo with Saweetie). Soundtrack Details for Tim Story’s ‘Shaft’

WaterTower Music will release the official soundtrack album for the Shaft sequel. The album features the film’s original score composed by Christopher Lennertz (Lost in Space, Horrible Bosses, Agent Carter, Ride Along, Think Like a Man). Also included is the original song Too Much Shaft performed by Quavo (with Saweetie) (already available to download here), as well as tracks by Switch, Souls of Mischief, Rick James, Das EFX, Quincy Jones, The Math Club, James Brown, Kris P., Caleborate and Bobby Bland. The soundtrack will be released on June 7 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Shaft is directed by Tim Story and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jesse T. Usher, Regina Hall, Alexandra Shipp, Matt Lauria, Titus Welliver, Cliff “Method Man” Smith and Richard Roundtree.

‘Shaft’ Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Announced

Craft Recordings has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1971 classic Shaft directed by Gordan Parks and starring Richard Roundtree, Moses Gunn, Charles Cioffi and Christopher St. John. The album features the film’s original music composed and performed by Isaac Hayes who received an Academy Award in the Best Original Song category and was also nominated for Best Original Score for his music for the movie. The 2-CD set includes the remastered 1971 original soundtrack album on the first disc, as well as the film score as heard in the film (previously only available in a box set released in 2008) on the second disc. The soundtrack, which also features liner notes from Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, will be released on June 14, 2019. Click here to pre-order the album and to check out the full track list. Christopher Lennertz to Score Tim Story’s ‘Shaft’ Sequel

Christopher Lennertz is reteaming with director Tim Story on the upcoming Shaft sequel. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson & Jessie T. Usher as father and son, as well as Richard Roundtree, Alexandra Shipp, Regina Hall, Avan Jogia and Method Man. The movie centers on the young and old Shafts as they are are forced to team up. Jackson is reprising his role from John Singleton’s 2000 Shaft movie, which was scored by David Arnold and featured Isaac Hayes’ classic theme from the 1971 original film.

David Arnold’s ‘Shaft’ Score to Be Released

La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere official release of the score for the 2000 action thriller Shaft directed by John Singleton and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Vanessa Williams and Christian Bale. The album features the film’s original music composed by David Arnold (Independence Day, Stargate, Casino Royale, Tomorrow Never Dies) who later reteamed with Singleton to score 2 Fast 2 Furious, Baby Boy and Four Brothers. The composer also incorporated the Academy Award-winning classic theme from the 70s films by Isaac Hayes into his score. Also included are a number of cues that were not used in the final version of the film.
