Universal Music will release the first score album for the NBC hit drama This Is Us. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Siddhartha Khosla (Runaways, The Royals, The Neighbors). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 2 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring songs from the series and two tracks from the composer’s score. This Is Us is created by Dan Fogelman and stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan. The final episode of the show’s second season currently air Tuesday nights on NBC. Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake, Still Alice, The Young Victoria) is composing the original score for the upcoming ITV and Amazon original mini-series Vanity Fair. The show is developed by Gwyneth Hughes (The Girl) and stars Olivia Cooke, Tom Bateman, Suranne Jones, Michael Palin, Johnny Flynn, Martin Clunes, Frances de La Tour, Claudia Jessie, Simon Russell Beale, Claire Skinner, David Flynn and Charlie Rowe. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and The Los Angeles Philharmonic today announced details of The Oscar Concert, a special, one-night-only celebration of film music at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 8:00 p.m. As part of the Oscar week celebrations for its 90th anniversary, the Academy, in partnership with the LA Phil, presents an exclusive one-of-a-kind celebration of film music, including never-before-heard arrangements of this year’s five Original Score Oscar nominees. Curated by composers and Academy Governors Michael Giacchino, Laura Karpman, and Charles Bernstein, the evening offers an insider’s look at film scoring across the decades, with select scores performed live by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by conductor Thomas Wilkins, and special guest Terence Blanchard (trumpet), with additional special guests to be announced. Nick Urata is scoring the upcoming coming-of-age drama The True Adventures of Wolfboy. The movie marks the feature directorial debut of Martin Krejci and stars Jaeden Lieberher, John Turturro, Chris Messina, Eve Hewson, Chloe Sevigny, Sophie Giannamore and Michelle Wilson. The movie revolves around a teenage boy who runs away from home in the search of his estranged mother. Olivia Dufault wrote the screenplay. Kendrick Lamar has revealed the track list for Black Panther: The Album, the soundtrack compilation featuring songs from and inspired by the Marvel Studios film. Among the artists featured on the release are Lamar himself who is producing the album with Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, Khalid, as well as Swae Lee, ScHoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Jorja Smith, Travis Scott and The Weeknd. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on February 9 by Interscope Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Black Panther directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and Andy Serkis will be released nationwide on February 16 by Walt Disney Pictures. Bear McCreary has composed the music for the next installment in the Cloverfield series, God Particle. The film is directed by Julius Onah and stars David Oyelowo, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris O’Dowd, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang and Daniel Brühl. The movie is set in the near future and tells the story of a team of astronauts on a space station who make a terrifying discovery involving a new energy source and their desperate fight for survival. Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and Doug Jung (Star Trek: Beyond, Confidence) wrote the screenplay. J.J. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Japanese anime series B: The Beginning. The album features the original music from the show’s first season composed by Yoshihiro Ike. The soundtrack is set to be released physically as a 2-CD set on March 23, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. B: The Beginning produced by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell, Psycho-pass) and Kazuto Nakazawa (animation director of Kill Bill) follows a group of scientists who hope “new humans” will create universal peace, but they’re kidnapped by an evil group with very different plans. Harry Escott is composing the score for Fox Networks Group Europe & Africa’s first original series Deep State. The show is created by Matthew Parkhill (Rogue) & Simon Maxwell (Killing Bono) and stars Mark Strong as a retired Secret Service operative and member of elite British/America team called The Section who is coaxed back into the field to try to shut down an Iranian missile program. Karima McAdams, Joe Dempsie, Lyne Renée, Alistair Petrie, Anastasia Griffith, Amelia Bullmore, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Pip Torrens and Fares Fares are co-starring. Sony Classical will release a new soundtrack album for the Amazon original series Mozart in the Jungle. The album features music from the show’s fourth season, including works from the 18th-century opera Erwin Und Elmire of Anna Amalia of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Nico Muhly’s Etude no. 3, as well as performances by bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, violist Nadia Sirota, conductor Riccardo Muti & more. Yu Kobayashi has composed the original music for the upcoming Chinese fantasy action adventure sequel The Monkey King 3. The film is directed by Soi Cheang who also helmed the first two parts in the series and stars Aaron Kwok, William Feng, Zanilia Zhao, Xiaoshenyang and Him Law. The movie follows the Monkey King and his companions as they are taken captive by the Queen of an all-female land, who believes them to be part of an ancient prophecy heralding the fall of her kingdom.
