Will Bates is scoring the new CW drama Charmed. The show is developed by Jessica O’Toole & Amy Rardin and Jennie Snyder Urman (Jane the Virgin) based on the series, which premiered in 1998 on The WB, and stars Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, Madeleine Mantock, Ser’Darius Blain, Ellen Tamaki and Rupert Evans. Michael Giacchino is set to return as the composer of Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Far From Home. The film is directed by Jon Watts who helmed the previous installment in the series and stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jake Gyllenhaal, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, In the House, Angel, Joyeux Noel) is currently recording his score for the upcoming animated feature Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion (Astérix: Le secret de la potion magique). The film is directed by Alexandre Astier & Louis Clichy and features the voices of Christian Clavier, Florence Foresti, Elie Semoun, François Morel, Alexandre Astier and Lionnel Astier. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, LostJurassic World, The Incredibles, Star Trek, Inside Out, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). The soundtrack is expected to be released digitally this Friday, October 12 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Deadline is reporting that the Scottish indie band Belle and Sebastian will make its film scoring debut on the upcoming British coming-of-age comedy Days of the Bagnold Summer. The film is directed by Simon Bird and stars Monica Dolan, Earl Cave, Rob Brydon, Tamsin Greig, Alice Lowe and Elliot Speller-Gillot. Composer Joel P West is reteaming with director Destin Daniel Cretton on the upcoming drama Just Mercy. The movie starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, Brie Larson, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Rob Morgan and Tim Blake Nelson is based on the bestselling book Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson and tells the true story of a gifted young lawyer fighting for equal justice in a flawed legal system. Cretton also co-wrote the screenplay with Andrew Lanham (The Shack). Gil Netter (Life of Pi, The Blind Side) is producing the project with Asher Goldstein (Short Term 12).
