The album features the original songs from the movie performed by the film’s cast and written by Justin Hurwitz (Whiplash) and featuring lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, as well as selections from Hurwitz’s score. Also included is the original song Start a Fire performed by John Legend who also co-wrote the song with Hurwtiz, Marius de Vries and Angelique Cinelu. The soundtrack will be released on December 9, 2016 by Interscope Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A separate soundtrack featuring Hurwitz’s original score will be also be released around the same time. james-newton-howardJames Newton Howard revealed during a press tour promoting his upcoming concert series that he will be reteaming with director Francis Lawrence on the spy thriller Red Sparrow. The film starring Jennifer Lawrence & Joel Edgerton is based on the Jason Matthews novel of the same name and is set in modern-day Russia in the intelligence bureaucracy. The movie follows a young woman who is drafted against her will to become a “sparrow,” a trained seductress assigned to operate against a first-tour CIA officer who handles the agency’s most sensitive penetration of Russian intelligence. Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road) wrote the screenplay based on an earlier script by Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle).
