The details of the soundtrack album for Damien Chazelle’s movie musical La La Land have been revealed. The album features the original songs from the movie performed by the film’s cast and written by Justin Hurwitz (Whiplash) and featuring lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, as well as selections from Hurwitz’s score. Also included is the original song Start a Fire performed by John Legend who also co-wrote the song with Hurwtiz, Marius de Vries and Angelique Cinelu. The soundtrack will be released on December 9, 2016 by Interscope Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Air-Edel Records will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original documentary The White Helmets. The album features the film’s original music composed by Patrick Jonsson (Virunga, Frame by Frame). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 18, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The White Helmets is directed by Orlando von Einsiedel and centers on a small group of volunteer heroes, the White Helmets, as they defy death, dodging bombs and sniper fire, to rescue Syrians from the bombs that fall incessantly on their towns and cities. In addition to revealing his involvement in several new projects, James Newton Howard also confirmed at a press tour for his upcoming concert series in Europe and at the London premiere of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that he will return to score the film’s sequel. David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Legend of Tarzan) who helmed the first part, which will be released this weekend, will also return to direct the movie. James Newton Howard is set to reunite with director Dan Gilroy on the upcoming dramatic thriller Inner City. James Newton Howard revealed during a press tour promoting his upcoming concert series that he will be reteaming with director Francis Lawrence on the spy thriller Red Sparrow. The film starring Jennifer Lawrence & Joel Edgerton is based on the Jason Matthews novel of the same name and is set in modern-day Russia in the intelligence bureaucracy. The movie follows a young woman who is drafted against her will to become a “sparrow,” a trained seductress assigned to operate against a first-tour CIA officer who handles the agency’s most sensitive penetration of Russian intelligence. Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road) wrote the screenplay based on an earlier script by Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle). A number of film composer will participate in Gold Derby’s first roundtable discussion event focussing on the music and sound of some of this year’s awards contenders in the respective categories. The Meet the Experts panel will be moderated by Tom O’Neill and will take place tomorrow, November 16 at Landmark Theaters in Los Angeles.
