Last week, Bryce Dessner has recorded his score for the upcoming Netflix original movie The Pope. The film is directed by Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardener, City of God, Blindness) and stars Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict and Jonathan Pryce as Pope Francis, as well as Juan Minujín, Cristina Banegas and María Ucedo. The drama explores the relationship and opposing visions between two of the most powerful leaders in the Catholic Church, both of whom must address their own pasts and the demands of the modern world in order to move the church forward. ‘Leto’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Russian biographical drama Leto. The album features the music from the film, including tracks by the Russian bands Zveri and Kino, as well as songs by T. Rex, The Velvet Underground & more. The soundtrack will be released in France on November 30. The movie takes place in Leningrad over the summer of 1981 and chronicles the coming of age and rise to fame of a group of young rock singers, including Viktor Tsoi who turned out to become a pioneer of Russian rock. Mychael Danna has recently composed the music for the upcoming family drama A Dog’s Way Home. The film is directed by Charles Martin Smith (Dolphin Tale, Air Bud) and stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Ashley Judd, Jonah Hauer-King, Alexandra Shipp, Wes Studi and Edward James Olmos. The movie based on the book by W. Bruce Cameron chronicles the adventure of Bella, a dog who embarks on an epic 400-mile journey home after she is separated from her beloved human. Walt Disney Records has released the first two songs from Mary Poppins Returns and also announced the full album details. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, A Few Good Men, Misery, The Bucket List) and the movie’s original songs written by Shaiman and featuring lyrics by Shaiman & Scott Wittman. Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Maniac) has recently scored the new Netflix docu-series The Innocent Man. The show directed by Clay Tweel is based on the best-selling non-fiction book of the same title by John Grisham (The Firm, The Pelican Brief) and focuses on two murders that shook the small town of Ada, Oklahoma, in the 1980s – and the controversial chain of events that followed.
