Original Song ‘Save The City’ from Marvel’s ‘Hawkeye’ Soundtrack Released
Hollywood Records and Marvel Music have released the original song Save The City from Rogers: The Musical, the fictional musical about Captain America featured in the first episode of Marvel Studios’ new Disney+ original series Hawkeye. The track is composed by Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, Mary Poppins Returns, Smash, A Few Good Men), with lyrics by Shaiman & Scott Wittman and performed by Adam Pascal, Ty Taylor, Rory Donovan, Derek Klena, Bonnie Milligan, Christopher Sieber and Shayna Steele. Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack album for the movie musical Mary Poppins Returns. The album features instrumental versions of all the songs from the movie composed by Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman who are both nominated for the original song The Place Where Lost Things Go at this year’s Academy Awards. The soundtrack, which is being sold internationally as Sing-Along version, is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Soundtrack Details
Walt Disney Records has released the first two songs from Mary Poppins Returns and also announced the full album details. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, A Few Good Men, Misery, The Bucket List) and the movie’s original songs written by Shaiman and featuring lyrics by Shaiman & Scott Wittman. The two selected songs for Academy Awards consideration are now available digitally. Walt Disney Records will release the official soundtrack album for the movie musical Mary Poppins Returns. Marc Shaiman (A Few Good Men, Misery, The American President, Sister Act) & Scott Wittman (Hairspray) have composed the film’s original songs and Shaiman also wrote the original score. The soundtrack will be released on December 7, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Mary Poppins Returns is directed by Rob Marshall and stars Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, Joel Dawson, Angela Lansbury and Dick Van Dyke.
Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman to Compose Score for ‘Everything Is Coming Up Profits’ Musical Adaptation
Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are attached to compose the score for an original feature musical based on the book Everything Is Coming Up Profits: The Golden Age Of Industrial Musicals. Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig are attached to develop the project, which has sold to Amblin Partners. Steve Levenson (Masters of Sex, Dear Evan Hansen stage musical) is writing the screenplay and Marc Platt (La La Land, Bridge of Spies, Into the Woods, Legally Blonde) will produce the film with Adam Siegel (Drive, 2 Guns).
‘Hairspray LIVE!’ Soundtrack Details
Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the NBC television event Hairspray LIVE!. The album features the songs from the musical written by Marc Shaiman (A Few Good Men, Misery, Sister Act, City Slickers) and Scott Wittman (Smash, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) performed by the show’s cast. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 2, 2016 and physically on December 9 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Hairspray LIVE! is based on the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway musical and stars Maddie Baillio, Dove Cameron, Kristin Chenoweth, Garrett Clayton, Harvey Fierstein, Ariana Grande, Derek Hough, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Short, Ephraim Sykes and Shahadi Wright Joseph, with special appearances by Billy Eichner, Sean Hayes, Andrea Martin and Rosie O’Donnell.
Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman to Write Songs and Score for ‘Mary Poppins’ Sequel
Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are set to compose original songs for a new Mary Poppins feature, which is currently in development at Disney. They will also be writing a new score. Rob Marshall (Chicago, Into the Woods, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) is attached to direct the movie, which is set 20 years after actions of the 1964 classic movie and will be based in parts on P.L. Travers’ book series. David Magee (Life of Pi, Finding Neverland) is writing the screenplay and John DeLuca (Into the Woods, Nine) and Marc Platt (Drive, Wanted, Legally Blonde) are producing the Walt Disney Pictures production.
Soundtrack for ‘Smash’ Musical ‘Bombshell’ Announced
Columbia Records will release the soundtrack for Bombshell, the musical within NBC’s hit show Smash. The album features 22 original songs that make up the Broadway-caliber cast recording of the musical. The songs composed by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman on the Bombshell soundtrack span both seasons of Smash. The soundtrack will be released on February 12, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article soon. A previous soundtrack album featuring songs from the first season has been released last spring. Smash starring Katherine McPhee, Megan Hilty, Debra Messing, Tom Levitt, Christian Borle and Anjelica Huston has been nominated for several Emmy Awards (including two nods for the music) and is up for Best Comedy/Musical at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. The first season of the musical show has just been released on DVD earlier this week. The second season of the series will premiere on Tuesday, February 5 on NBC.
‘Smash’ Soundtrack Announced
Columbia Records will be releasing the first original soundtrack album for the NBC musical drama Smash. The Music of Smash features original songs from the show written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, as well several cover versions performed by the show’s cast members including Katherine McPhee, Megan Hilty and Will Chase. Also included is the Ryan Fedder-produced original song Touch Me from last week’s episode. The soundtrack will be released on May 1, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Most songs featured in the already aired episodes are also available to download individually on iTunes and Amazon (click here for our last update). Smash has recently been renewed for a second season and currently airs every Monday night on NBC.
