Fernando Velazquez is composing the music for the upcoming romantic thriller Submergence. The film is directed by Wim Wenders (Buena Vista Social Club, Wings of Desire, Pina) and stars James McAvoy, Alicia Vikander, Charlotte Rampling and Alexander Siddig. The movie is based on the novel by J.M. Ledgard and tells the story of a water engineer who is taken hostage in Somalia by Jihadist fighters who suspect that he is a British spy. Erin Dignam (The Yellow Handkerchief, The Last Face) wrote the screenplay. ‘Fortitude’ Soundtrack Announced

Mute will release a soundtrack album for the Sky Atlantic drama Fortitude. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Ben Frost (Sleeping Beauty, The Deep). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 17, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version will also be released overseas. Fortitude is created by Simon Donald and stars Richard Dormer, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Mia Jexen, Alexandra Moen, Sienna Guillory, Luke Treadaway, Nicholas Pinnock, Jessica Raine, Christopher Eccleston, Stanley Tucci, Michael Gambon and Dennis Quaid. Raf Keunen is reuniting with director Michael Roskam (The Drop) on the upcoming crime drama Racer and the Jailbird. The film starring Matthias Schoenaerts and Adèle Exarchopoulos is set against the background of a brutal crime gang in Brussels and centers on a gangster who meets and falls for a young racing driver with very upper-class roots. Roskam also wrote the screenplay with Thomas Bidegain (A Prophet, Rust and Bone) and Noé Debré (Dheepan). Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD club series, including a deluxe edition for the 1990 drama Stanley & Iris directed by Martin Ritt and starring Robert DeNiro and Jane Fonda. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. The Extraterrestrial). Also included is the world premiere release of Williams’ score for the 1972 drama Pete ‘N’ Tillie directed by Ritt and starring Walter Matthau and Carol Burnett. Diane Warren contributed the original song Prayers for this World, which is performed by Cher and The West Los Angeles Children’s Choir. The movie explores the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the devastating civil war that has defined the country over the last five years.
